Fair enough if we down the max of heavies to 2, but i think to be fair we should do the same to the demoman class limit,

Think about it, all 3 demomen is good for is extreme spamination, 2 presents a challenge, 3 can hold down an entire map (ctf_turbine, cap 3 3 of dustbowl, final cap on fastlane, the list goes on), and whats a reasonable counter to demos with 175 health. spies and snoypers have somewhat of a chance of killing them, engys fall to their jump out attack, scouts arnt practical, sollies are one counter, pyros cant get close enougn, medics nah, and heavies are.

So the only fairly solid counter to a demo is heavies and sollies, so i say limit the heavies for the achis and limit the demos for the spam...

For 24 player pubs, a global class limit of 3 is standard. It works regardless of update mania, and gives a good balance and spread of attack, defending and supporting classes.
There has been a general class limit of 3 on our servers for some time now. With the exception of Scouts and Sollys which are more popular general use classes which are limited to 4. Also, in some cases, certain maps benefit from bringing the class limit on snipers down to 2.

tbh, i dont think the large influx of heavys will be much of a problem.

its not the the pyro when that patch came out,
the pyro doesnt realy need a medic to be amazing, so thats why that was so annoying.


the medic patch was annoying because alot of medics on a team make the team very strong.


a large increase in heavy players wont make much of a differnce imo, a heavy without a medic isnt a massive threat tbh.

but thats the whoel point the new update is there to make heavies more resilient WITHOUT a medic..... so you see the problem

Yup but it the new unlock will also have a disadvantage to balance that out...
3 of each class is fine imo.

Usually during the update season I go onto a few crappy 32 instaspam servers because its just so funny to see entire teams as the same class :D

tbh i aint worried about the heavy influx, cause some random palying heavy just because he got new toys will just get eaten alive :)

i dont normaly play as snoypa or as a spah, but i think im going to have to give it a go as there's going to be so many noob heavies, cos at the mo i get nerfd srait off, our heavys are just to good.

actualy this whole thing is a spy's dream! lots of useless heavys and oblivious snipers

Personally I think the class limit of 3 is good enough. It definitely SHOULDN'T be restricted any more than that; I'd rather see it increased. Sure we may see more inexperienced players trying out the heavy, but other than that, it's perfectly balanced as it is. And I doubt the changes to the heavy will be as dramatic as the changes to the pyro, for example (you can't really change the slow-moving tank that much, plus he's been pretty well balanced right from the start).

Remember that when the pyro update was released, the servers didn't have very complicated class restrictions yet. This time the restrictions are there right from the start, so I don't think the balance will suffer one bit and the servers should stay playable all around.

I'll be playing the heavy myself with great pleasure once the update is out. It's one of my favourite classes and my best class performance-wise (I always get incredible amounts of kills and just a few deaths playing it). :D

If people really wanted to play heavy a lot, they'd go on other servers. And like with anything released before, people just have to get used to the new unlocks and find ways of countering them instead of outright banning them and whining Valve for "ruining the game" with a free and large professionally made update once again.

Spies and snipers should have a fun time with this, but with the limit of three heavies per team, I don't think their lives will get much easier, if at all, since there's already often two or three heavies on a single team.
