I'm a webdesigner. Flash, XHTML, CSS, but also Java, PHP, FLex, Ajax... what do you need? I can throw up a quick frontpage, if that's all you need. I owe you people that much for playing on your server as often as I do. ^^

I suggest you don't bother too much about throwing up a portal. It is a LOT of work to do it well. Ideas are fun... but if you really want to throw up a portal, you'll need to use some sort of framework. I sometimes make custom portals using BEA WebSphere, IBM WebLogic... It'll set you back a few hundredthousand pounds if you want it done well...

Joomla! often does the trick, though. It has a CMS, forums (Small Machines), chat apps... Whatever you need, rest assured, it's already there. All open source. :)

Want a sleek design for your frontpage? A link to your forum? A link to your HLStatsX page? Simple stuff, and more than sufficient, if you ask me. I can spend a few hours on ya. Free of charge! :)

wow thanks mate.

I will PM you

There ya go. A mock up for a new home page. Most of the menu items are links to existing parts of the site. I'm not rewriting the whole thing. It's lotsa work to do that. For the news Item, I can either write a really, really stupendously simple CMS in PHP (ie. something that reads articles from a db and renders them in XHTML/CSS). The HLStatsX page already exists, so does the forum. You can have a Join page. Nothing complicated. Just a link to the appropriate topic, and a short description of how to join.

The Sympathisatron 3000 Mark VI, is a fun little applet. TF2 uses quite ingenius colourcoding for usability. If you bother to look into it, it's actually an insanely well designed game. I'm not kidding. They had lots of great ideas.

If I find time, I'll make that applet switch between Red en Blu colour schemes and backgrounds. Very Web 2.0. :)

If you're feeling guilty about me investing this much work into a project that isn't mine. You can always give me money! This mock up alone was hard work! It took me about 14 minutes of my precious time. ;)

that looks the bee knees

could you use a certain area of the forum for news on the front page?

Ofcourse. Though, I'd much rather use my own code. It's simpler. And simplicity means better maintainance. ;)

Storm i can help with some of the XHTML, CSS or AJAX if you want? Or some flash, although it's sometime since i did any serious action scripting. Can do some mathematical animation etc., for some added eye candy perhaps. (And use the trick of replacing the logo image with an animated flash, if and only if, the browser supports flash - fancy! Oh and unobtrusive, standard compliant and all that mumbo jumbo)

I got a CSS Web 2.0 changer somewhere on my computer, so can quickly conjure up something for you to use. I of course code by the standards in DOM and in an unobtrusive way, so that you don't have to alter any XHTML structure for the DOM to do its magic :)
[EDIT]Seems like my DOM projects has disappeared when i cleaned up last time :( Oh well, its just a cookie and changing the URL of the style sheet to import on/before page load[/EDIT]

The HLstats can probably be fetched by AJAX aswell, with some tabs to swap view of servers. Perhaps a high score or whatever you fancy. Would be easy to include as small applications that can just be attached to your design if you leave a tag for it somewhere to occupy ;)
