I'm pretty near Oxford myself. Oxford may also be slightly closer to our Northern brothers. But I'd be happy to say... Hampshire. It's not that far, and I'm sure trains will be running.

oxford may be closer but actually probably harder to get to than london (speakign as someone who is a poor student and has no car - reliant on trains :S )

how about banbury? banbury gets a bunch of north sounth trains and everyone knows you can't travel east/west in the uk. that would justb e asking too much

yeah i think to get to oxford from sheffield u have 2 go to london and then go from there (not 100% sure tho)

i honestly think london will be the easiest place to meet up, oxford is closer to me but a bitch to get to, and yes you have to go into london first in order to get a train to oxford. plus there are way more things to do in london

yeah trains are wierd fro mwhere i am its a train from shefield to london afaik dont think it goes to oxford, i wouldnt be able to go or ought but just some info

Voted birmingham as cheap flights are available from airport weeze (close to where I live).

London could do aswell... the other 2 aren't really options for flying.
