Ok i have created a room called #the-hh on quakenet.

This guide may appear a little rough at the mo, but i'll tidy it up another time.

i will show some screens on how to setup mirc to connect to you this room when you start up mirc and automatically auth yourself with quakenet.

This may seem long winded, but fear not, once you have followed this, all you will need to do is open mirc and all will be done.

OK 1st you need to download MIRC from http://www.mirc.com, now you dont need to use mirc, any IRC chat client will do, but all the screens will be using mirc.

when you start mirc, you will be presented with the following screen, fill in your details.



Then click on servers and select Quakenet Random UK server.



now click back on to connect and press the connect button. you will now be connected to the Quakenet IRC network.

once connect you will be presented with a dialog box like this



enter #the-hh as the room name.

now click on the Add buttons and you will be presented with a box like this



enter #the-hh as the room name.

Click on Join on connect.

Now where it says networks, click on the add button and find Quakenet, this will then only auto join this room when you connect to the quakenet server.

Now click ok to save the settings, then click on join.

you will now go into the #the-hh room on quakenet, hopefully you will see some other ppl in there.

Now there are 3 more steps to go through.

This is so L (when we get him in the room) can automatically give out Ops to ppl. (Dont worry, it wont give out ops to just anyone, we have to tell L who to give ops to)

click on the tab saying Quakenet <alias>



this will bring the other window to the front.

now type in the command

/msg Q HELLO <your email address> <your email address>

e.g /msg Q HELLO stu@stu.com stu@stu.com

you will then get an email with your new password, so you can authenticate with the quakenet servers.

1st AUTH in by typing

/msg Q@CServe.quakenet.org AUTH username password

please note <username> must be the username you chose when you did the /msg Q HELLO. All this will be explained in the email you get from quakenet.

once auth'ed you can change you emailed address

to do this you type

/msg Q@CServe.quakenet.org NEWPASS oldpass newpass newpass

e.g.

/msg Q@CServe.quakenet.org NEWPASS trump trumped trumped.

Everytime you connect to quakenet you need to auth with the server, but rather than keep typing that long command in, we can tell mirc to do it for us when we connect to mirc.

Open up the options and click on options under the connect menu, click connect on start up.

now click on perform, you will get a box like this, click on add and select Quakenet.



Click on Enable perform on connect, and added the command below, like i have done.

Now click on ok all you should be ready, close down mirc and restart to make sure all works.

right we need to request a bot,

we need to have a few ppl in there for a while, then L will come and join us.

so everyone pile into the room, then hopefully L will come and look after it for us

OK so L has turned up on our room, now i can start telling it who gets ops etc etc

to get ops you need to do the HELLO and AUTH parts, if you followed the guide, then you will of already done that
