Looks like they've cottoned on to the fact that they're taking way too long over getting the trading system working and raising the chances (significantly) of you finding hats now, but sorry for you guys that have got items through the idling app, although from the sound of it, not many hats were obtained anyway

i didnt get any hats from idleing but i did get fook loads of items, i dunno if i del the old ones or the idle obtained ones, so i and many others could be looking at loosing alot of their items

something like this was bound to happen, valve had already stated their stance on the idle program, and it was only a matter of time until they figured out a way of punishing people.

i was seconds away from downloading the idler the other day until big baller berated me and i didn't bother.

Yeah, I deleted all my copies and kept the highest level ones. If it just so happens some of those high level ones were got by idling I am going to be pretty pissed off.

Valve are really in for a shitstorm on this one. The blog post says that only 4.5% of their total players used idling, but I wonder what percentage of the ACTIVE playerbase used it. 10%? 20% maybe? Possibly even more... I can understand why they would take such a hardline on external applications, but given players were only turning to it because their drop system is unfinished and awful it seems overly harsh. They have been totally silent on the whole idling problem (probably because they don't want to draw attention to their shitty drop system) and then suddenly announce that if you idled you will have items taken away feels a little bit entrapment-esque to me. If 100,000 customers are trying to cheat your system then your system is WRONG, not the customer. Remember that mantra from business school Valve?

lol the halo looks cheesy/bad, quite glad I idled and got the hats I did without being punished now As I'd never wear that halo, the glow will give you away a mile off imo.

aw man i saw that halo hat on the hat unlock server thought it was a homemade modded one lol, god i hope the sonic and mario ones weren't real as well :/

interesting update tho nice to see valve put their foot down on something even if it is a rather meh subject for me. they must have balls of steel.
