This is going to be very interesting. Gordon Brown is a fool if he tries to cling on with a minority govt. They do have a shot at working with the Lib Dems, but they don't seem very receptive to the idea.
If worst case scenario happens and we have to have another election, it will totally wreck him. So, expect Labour to throw in the towel and give the Conservatives the chance to form a minority government, probably with a formal coalition with the LDs or even the other minority parties. Or at least an informal agreement to not be cockblocked by Nick Clegg at every turn.
While the Lib Dems didn't get the big push of seats I was hoping, they're going to use this result to hammer home the point that out FPTP system is screwed, and I wouldn't be surprised if they press the Cons for electoral reform in return for support.

Re: Election Day
Get ready now for Clegg to cosy up to Brown/Cameron (toss coin), change election system and prepare to vote again before the end of the year.
Proportional representation now please. The voting system atm is fucked. Watching a slimeball tory on the telly saying that 'proportinal representation isn't what this country needs' no of course not, a fair vote would give the Lib Dems an actual chance of getting in. Asshole.
Sadly a change to PR is more unlikely than you think. Cameron could just form a minority government without making any concessions to the Liberals and try to wing it, then call another election with the hope of getting a proper majority (which is looking more likely). Of he'll offer anything other than electoral reform to try to woo the Lib Dems, possibly even a cabinet seat.
Brown's promise of a referendum is just clutching at straws. He can just turn around and campaign against it anyway. I don't think Clegg will risk tainting his party's reputation by joining up with Labour. He has said over and over that the winner of the popular vote should be PM, and that's Cameron, botox bitch that he is.
Even if they manage to hammer a coalition deal out, the Liberal party have to actually support it internally too, and that's not a given. This is a real minefield.
