As you may have noticed Server 1 is now a 32 player server. We have had some mixed reactions to this so we would like as much input from you, the community, to see what we should do. Please vote on how many players you would like to have on server 1 and tell us why.

This is an important topic so please all give the 32 slot server a try and tell us your experience.

I dont have any major preference between 28 and 32 although some servers with higher caps can be very cluttered. What i would like ot see most of is reserved slots going up, as its a pain to get onto play some nights. Saying that i would have to propose that its reserved for Members and above, so not really helping me at all :p

played on the 32 man server last night and tbh i liked it, but that said i had no lag problems whereas alot of others did, so i suppose its only going to be good for those with top end pcs otherwise it will lag like a biatch

Reserve Slots don't have to be just for members........ IMO.

I have gone for 28 + 4. I lots of people help pay for the servers. And It's silly that them people cannot get on and pay.

I think 4 res would be just about right too.


By the way server 2 (24 Slot) and server 3 (20 slots) will be staying the same.

The only reason i say Members and above is that i am unsure as to the procedure for selecting Reg's. If there isnt all that many Regs then by all means... Putting my own personal wants aside i would have done members and above and probably thrown in anyone who commits money to the project (servers). To start with anyway.

I just had a quick bash on server 1 (playing DB) and even though the server wasnt full with 32 players
(I think it was around 26ish players) it was however lag free and spike free for me :]

Then suddenly the server just kept rebooting, hence I left for another server.

I have voted for 24+4 slots as its only right you guys get to play on your servers.
I assume you have forked out even more money to upgrade from 24 players to 32 players so its only fair you get to play.

But I am concerned that 32 players will lag out some users and make some maps (i.e. 2 fort and Dustbowl) spamfests when full. Also the scoreboard is not big enough for 32 players, which can lead to a nasty surprise especially in melee when you think that was the last player, but there are others... at the very bottom who then kill you

Will you bring in class limits for my favorite classes like Demos? and add customs that will benefit from more players like cp_mini_canyon (pld this the other day and its both CP and CTF), cp_labor_b3 or cp_castle? and hopefully consider putting a high ping limit on at certain peak times.
Now I dont want to prevent far off users from playing on HH, I know HH gets users at all hours (I just played with them the other day at 6am.) but... I am a mean bar steward.

When i tried the 32 player server, i seemed to experience some weird latency, making me unable to snipe properly. Also i couldn't see the scores of those with the lowest points. So i vote for 24 players, with 4 reserved slots for admins (I guess you mean someone will be kicked if an admin joins yes?)

In case i was wrong with above, perhaps a 28 player server with 4 reserved slots... then without admins it's a regular game, but there's always room for me! Hehe

The server hasn't been permanently upgraded to 32 players yet. Hence the poll

Anyway it seems reserved slots break the queue system. So that's something that needs to be taken into account.

Also I'm still not completely sure how the reserved slot option works. I think the downside was that if an admin joined even when the server was not full he would still be assigned a reserved slot. For example let's take a 28 slot server with 4 reserved slots. This would mean it would a normal 24 server for all other people. Now lets say 4 admins joined before the server at 24 players, the remaining 4 reserved spots couldn't be taken by other admins wanting to join because the 4 already on the server have them assigned. Now this would be a waste of 4 slots.

I get the impression this is fixed now but we need to make sure before committing to a 32 server. Another thing to think about is that everyone can get a reserved slot. Let's say we make it a 24+8 reserved slot server and give all the regs reserved slot status. That would be a nice boon for those who support us. I do think if we do that we need to make reg status something that is only given to those who have played on our server a long time and something for people to aim for. Not give it as easy as we do now. Otherwise everyone will want reg status and the whole purpose of reserved slots will be lost.

I think 24 is a good number.

As for admin reserved slots... you should have as many as you need imo. Surely source (or maybe mani?) will allow you to have hidden reserved slots that you can use by force connecting to the server ip?
