I going to try out a custom kernel today, so the |H|H| dedicated box will be offline at some point today whilst this is being done. The website and TF2/MC/L4D servers will unavailable because of that.
2.6.39-0.el5.elrepo which is the very latest kernel and completely out of band with CentOS.
Let's see how this works out. It might only be a stepping stone towards a fully kernel customised for our specific hardware and set-up. It's also a learning experience, so taking it in steps.

Tried a custom one I compiled, but that wouldn't boot. A kernel panic, maybe due to a missing driver module, I don't know. It's hard to tell with the box being remote. Had to get support to reboot it manually and select the previous version.
So anyway back up with the another elrepo kernel, this time 2.6.35-13.el5.elrepo
