BF3 isn't too far off now and so we need to start thinking about the answer to the question, "Does the Hampshire Heavies community want a server?"

As with all previous Battlefield games, it's unlikely that the game server files will be made available to anyone other than RSP (ranked server providers). This means that we would be unable to host our own BF3 server, but instead rent it from a third-party.

Most game server providers are still in the process of getting RSP status for BF3, but it looks like the price per slot will be around £0.75-£1.25.

We had a BF2 server in the past which lasted a good few months, but came to an end as interest waned and donations for it dried up.

If you are interested in us getting a BF3 server and would be willing to help get it off the ground (donate) then please respond below.

I think it's worth having a server on a sort of trial for the initial release and time after that, then see about renewing it if its still popular.

It's a good idea with the fact this game is getting a lot of interest.

It would be good to have a server for a few months see how it goes but I hear it's quite expensive (depending on slots).

BUT I still dont want Origin although BF3 (server) would be def. nice...grml, hell, dont know.

I would say 24 slots as 32 is just too much of a cluster. Besides, I doubt the maps where made with 32 players in mind. I assume the reason you are asking is because it isn't possible to change it afterwards.

I think you'll find that the designers probably did think about it. Some of the maps were designed for 64 players.
