Post The Lo-Fi Offclass Cup, presented by PubComp.com

The concept is simple. 6 on 6 TF2, but with no Scouts, Soldiers, or Demomen to be seen. Your first reaction may well be “Sounds stupid” but think about it for a second or two and hopefully you’ll realise just how fun it can be. The prototype `test´ match was a success and greatly enjoyed by all. The format of the tournament (including maps) will depend on the number of teams, but the winners will each become owners of a coveted Lo-Fi Longwave, courtesy of our friends at KritzKast. (Come on, we all know nothing is more valuable than hats!).

With over 30 teams signed up in the first day of them opening and VanillaTV set to cast it, the competition looks fierce for what’s sure to be the most terribly serious event you’ll see this autumn!

That's mostly a copy-paste of my post on the SPUF too, which can be found here.

I hope we can get at least one HH team into this!

Dead Ringer is allowed but no Eternal Reward? I don't want to sound like a douche, but... That sucks.

Sounds cool, but the list of unlocks is pretty strange and disappointing. I can understand why they'd ban the detonator, sandwich, FOS or wrangler for instance, but why southern hospitality, razorback, backburner, YER, C&D. Not saying all of these would be great unlocks, just that I don't see a reason to ban them.

I think a good engie and medic can be key. Depends on the map obviously, but a good engie shouldn't be underestimated when there are no soldiers or demomen around to take down his sentry. And the medic is obviously important to keep the team alive and push with an uber.

Guys guys guys, let's not focus on the unlocks over the actual event please. The basis of the game mode is to emphasise the use of different classes, not different unlocks. I can assure you, we tested different unlocks in the prototype match and this is what worked.

On another note, I actually forgot to embed the promotional video in my first post! It's there now, as well as here:

The LFOC is also mostly a bit of fun and not a serious competition.

Sound quite interesting cup, but I agree those unlocks seem a bit stupid especially when it comes to dead ringer. I also would like to point out that since heavy is the only "powerful" allowed class the game become pretty much centered around him. Not to mention pyro vs pyro is probably the most broken class matchup in TF2. Other than that, I'd like to see how this will work out.
