They took their time announcing this. Steam itself wasn't actually hacked. vBulletin that powers Steam Forums was hacked using a widely known exploit. This then gave access to various databases.
So really you only need to worry about your Steam Forum account details, if you had one.

Yep I saw this on Friday as well, luckily I was never signed up to the forums but to be honest I think I will still change my password.
I had a gut feeling that this incident would happen to steam sooner or later, what with the ps3 and other online shops security breaches that have happened in the past.
