First i would recommend playing pyro its pretty dangerous class but once you get the hang of it starts to come brilliantly fun and you will get better with the class, i would say its easiest class but its down to opinion but stay on pyro (or another class) for a long time and you will get the jist of things and you will become well developed, whatever you do don't give up once you get it the game is addicting as hell and brilliant fun.
Edit: Practice on easy bots, then medium and then hard and then go in for the real PvP aspect that may also help you get better and improve your skills.
If you get easily killed by people here @HH, then don't take it too seriously. They tend to cooperate and help each other so it's unlikely to get a kill when you're outnumbered. Always think twice before rushing into front lines, if you like to play pyro, try to stick with your teammates and help them (extinguish medic, push ubers away then hide, etc.). Don't take on enemies in open spaces but try to use corners to your advantage to hide if something goes wrong. Use stock flamethrower of degreaser (which on is of your preference) and stock shotgun with powerjack, that way you can move faster when not in combat and I also underrated the shotgun, but it makes wonders if they run out of your flamethrower range.
So the conclusion would be: Don't go for kills, go for helping your teammates. Good luck.
