Yes, Linc does have a valid point there.
I've been playing it for (Gametime) 6 hours. And I have 17 kills. Most of the time is trying to get on to HH2. Anyway, I'm only starting off with shooters on PC, used to the Xbox controller. |

The first thing you should be doing is checking your setup is ok. I have asked this from you countless times yet you never answer: What sort of framerate do you get in battles? (and an "it's OK" does not count as an answer) What mouse settings are you using (accel turned off in windows / Mouse DPI / ingame sens )? What sort of gear are you using to game on. Headphones or speakers / monitor make and model. You may think this is irrelevant and what you got is fine, however if you are chugging along at 30-40fps then you will find every aspect of the game harder. Once you answer these questions then I may offer further help. |

I don't really know how to get most of that info. The monitor is a BenQ G2410HD (Probably not a well known brand) and the res is 1920 1080 No idea what specifics about the speakers, I just know they're Logitech. I sometimes use some nice Sony headphones. Model is MDR-ZX600 The mouse has it's own config program, the mouse accel is off. Never touched the DPI, although I can tell you the polling rate is at 500hz (if that matters) I guess I'll always just get on people's nerves as usual. I have no idea if any of this is useful. |

TF2 has it's own built in mouse acceleration and it's turned on by default. To turn it off, add these lines to your autoexec.cfg (found in tf/cfg) And to prevent windows from trying to force it's mouse settings into TF2, add these to your launch settings (Done by right clicking TF2 in your steam library -> Properties -> Set Launch Options) -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel You may also want to consider changing mouse sensitivity between classes (like, lower sensitivity for hitscan and higher for projectile based), but that's personal preference To find out your FPS, type net_graph 3 into the console. To remove any FPS cap that may be present, add fps_max 0 to your autoexec.cfg I've been improving by playing stuff I enjoy and what I feel like playing, I disagree with the people saying "focus on one class", only do that if there is definitely a class that stands out for you in terms of enjoyability and your skill level with it, otherwise just play what you want to play. |

You'll laugh at my setup: Dell Ultrasharp U2412M Monitor Custom built PC Gamecom Planatronics Headphones Logitech B110 Mouse Right now, I'm stuck on my other PC and my laptop-Dell Studio 1735. The PC is from 2006 with a new hardrive- The PC has a damn expensive Graphics Card (An old nvidia 12gb quadro (new when bought) ) I only play on default settings... Also, I'm hopefully getting some new gear for my b'day, (PC Needs a new Motherboard-any suggestions?) Edit: Laptop FPS Averages 50-70fps. |

The monitor is a well known brand. It also has low input lag so shouldn't be a factor. Although it is only a 60hz monitor which has an impact on clarity on fast movement compared to a 120hz or greater display. I would recommend using headphones over speakers starting out as it should allow you to pick out left right noises easier. I would not recommend using different mouse sensitivities as this will hamper muscle memory. For the same reason why all mouse acceleration should be turned off. What mouse is it? |

The mouse is TeckNet. Not sure about the model, I only knew the model for the headphones because I had the box around. Hmmm.....all I've got is TeckNet X9800 gaming mouse in the manual. Both ingame and the mouse settings have the acceleration turned off. I really don't think it's my setup. I've never been one to blame my equipment first. From experience, it's always me that is the problem.
That's why I want to get good (well, not good exactly. Just be able to play it) at another class. Medic is fun at times but playing the same class and only that class can get boring after a while. It'd be fun to choose from a handful of classes I'm ok with depending on the situation. I mean I do that anyway. If my team has two or more Medics, I choose something else. Obviously I'm not like everyone else. If I want to improve at a class, I need to focus on that one for a while. Unless there are more than two of those classes on my team of course. Then I go Medic. Oh, and I don't do the same things over and over. When I die, I decide on trying something else. Maybe taking a different route for example.
I agree. I've tried it sometimes so I can practice my aim, but I've never changed the sensitivity for specific games, so it always feels really stiff and cramped. |

It is essential firstly that we understand what sort of kit you are using and the setup. Please do not question this methodology. So: Framerate - Still waiting on an answer. Mouse - that mouse apparantly has a 8200dpi sensor, are you using it at that dpi rate (because that may be a mistake) and if so what ingame sens are you using? Also what is your turning circle with the mouse. place the crosshair on a fixed point like the edge of a window frame and measure the amount you have to move the mouse in order to do a 360° turn. |
