Post About the custom maps
Admins: do you think there could be a review of the custom maps in use at the moment? It often kills the server when the map vote comes up and ALL the maps are customs. Some of them have thought put into the appearance but are horifically unbalanced (es_happycow, and also broma although I don't know about beta6) while others are just downright terrible (tomu2 for example- I think that's the name). I really don't think we need so many customs on the server. Goldrush is coming out soon, I think that will mix things up sufficiently to only need 2 or 3 extra customs on the server. Thoughts?

Post Re: About the custom maps
Personally I'm in favour of plenty of custom maps.

I do have to agree with you about Tomu (?) but happycow is great fun (if extremely spammy), Broma is so-so but most of the other customs are excellent imo (redstone, dogblu, mach4, station etc)

Some of the maps are terrible (like Lazytown, which is dull and goes on forever), but I think I need to play some others a bit more to get a better feel for them.

I'm in agreement. Check out the map pack thread for maps that I think people would enjoy playing :D

I think it's good for variety and to test out new things, but some are a bt sub-par iMo.

I say keep the customs off server 1, unless they are proven undiscussables (eg. mach4).

Otherwise keep it on 2&3 to get people eager to get to know new maps on those and keep 1 happy and rollin'.

Not bored of original maps! 8-)

The only custom maps I like are Mach4 and Turbine (and Orange_x if that counts).

I personally think Station, Mach4, Turbine and Broma (B is very ahrd to cap, but doable, and that's it's only real flaw. also we should update to beta 6) should stay on the server(s). I haven't played redstone.

Maybe keep server 1 for Valve maps and one or two of the best customs, and server 2 can be Valve maps and other custom maps that haven't 'proved' themselves yet (no that does not mean bad maps that go on forever like orangex and lazytown)

I wouldnt say lazytown is a bad map. If you think about it, it's perfectly balanced.
The team thats falling behind are helped because they don't have so far to go, and the other team has further to go from spawn, meaning tp's are needed.
A perfectly balanced map should in theory go on forever because neither team would gain an advantage. Thats why I like it. Because it's your teams skill that dictates who wins, not the map mechanics.
It dosnt look very inspiring, but hey, neither does marzipan, yet it tastes great in cakes.

Unless the cake is lie. No need for anyone else to say it now.
