Spiderbloke, I don't quite agree with you there. As soon as you capture point 3, you have an advantage over the other team, even though you have to walk farther.
The problem with Lazytown is, in my opinion, the middle point. The middle point is higher than the rest of the map. This is understandable, as it means snipers won't have an easy time killing people from the other side of the map. However, there is one nasty side-effect: The team with higher ground has a gigantic advantage. Soldiers, one of the most important class, is based around height advantage. It's impossible to use soldiers to assault the middlepoint, as you cannot hit the ground beneath your targets. The only way to successfully attack the middlepoint is by jumping up the roof of the building: However, there you're vulnerable to snipers and demomen. Heavies suffer from a similar issue: while they're moving up the slope, they cannot hit anyone, while the head of the heavy can already be hit, and they can already be killed by demomen. This means it's also hard to assault the middlepoint with heavies. Demomen have a problem with vision. Because of the slope, they cannot see their targets. Defending demomen don't have this problem, as they can simply move in and out of vision, finding their targets, and then shooting their nades over the slope. This means demomen have a hard time attacking the middle point as well. Because the three most common offensive classes suffer from a major disadvantage because of the map layout, it's hard to make a comeback on Lazytown. Therefore, I don't really like it.

Re: About the custom maps
It's too hard to capture the 2nd and 1st points because they are so close to the other team's spawn, and can be watched by snipers which you can usually do very little about. The match lasts much longer then Well, Granary and Badlands and like Dustbowl becomes a spamfest.
The sudden increase in custom maps on our servers seem to coincide with a sudden decrease in players. They probably need to be restricted to only a few per server.

At the risk of being called a post whore I'll leave it there..
mmmm custom maps either do one of two things - empty a server or fill it. From my years of cs playing i know this to be true. Me personally i'm a traditionalist and I only tend to like the official maps, very rarely customs. What i would suggest to you guys is since you have 3 servers, why not just make one server a pure custom map server then those who want them can go on that server?

Re: About the custom maps
I find it strange that some people have an outright aversion to custom maps.
I know there are some ropey ones out there but a few are every bit as good as valve maps (better in some cases) and add much needed (imo) variety to to stock rotations.
I guess there's always gonna be people that dont want to wait for the map to download the 1st time (which I think accounts for customs emptying servers on occasion) but once downloaded, surely each map should be judged on its own merits regardless of the creator......
