mouse has been a bit iffy over the last few days - skipping, losiong tracking, random input etc - I'm at a loss
That might just be the mouse getting old and worn out, mine's doing that aswell and it's years of age. Which is why I'm going to order a new one shortly
I bloody hope not, I only just bought this copperhead a couple of weeks ago!
I'm not sure if it's driver related or something more...tangible.

It all depends what sensitivity you use in-game as to whether a mouse is any good or not. If your a high sensitivity user then those benchmarks arnt of particular interest as they govern what acceleration speeds your mouse can handle, your priority being the dpi rating of the mouse not the acceleration speed (or IPS i think is the technical term). However for those CS players that have huge mousemats and set their sensitivity so you have to move your mouse 20 inches just to do a 360, they will essentially decide which mouse you should buy. Which is why alot of CS players use logitech, or MS IE3.0 mice; high sens users usually lean towards razer mices (which is why i use a lachesis, 3 inches is a full 360 on my settings).
Never really understood all this myself. Too much sensitivity and I find the pointer flying all over the shop (which for me is useless). I just tweak the control panel settings and ingame ones if necessary, and be done with it.
Which universe are we talking about? It sure has some nice features the G9 doesnt have (replaceable mouseglides, macro recording etc) but is technically inferior (2000 dpi as opposed to 3200, 500 Hz USB reporting as opposed to 1000 Hz, etc) and the main reason not to buy it: its by microshaft.
