Post New Map Night - anyone know a mapper?
I was thinking of holding a New Map Night later this month.

Basically, the event is: we throw up a bunch of unfinished maps on the server over 2-3 hours, anyone can join and leave as they like and give feedback to the creator on the server or on the forums.

If anyone is into mapping, or has any mappers on their friends list with work that needs testing, please get in touch.

edit - agent has given me a new avatar. Hmm.

edit2 - agent has told me the avatar is a picture of his dog. I am honoured.

Are you calling Agent's dog 'bad stuff'?

Tentatively, this looks like it's going to happen on Sunday 22nd. I'll be combing this forum for potential.

Criteria for entry:
- Must be ready for gameplay on a public TF2 server
- 5CP, A/D, KOTH, or Payload. No weird plugin based gamemodes
- At least basic lighting, no fullbright

The better the map, the longer we play it.

I might look into creating a downloadable installer that finds your TF2 directory and puts all the map files in the right place... if I can figure out how to make it. Fun project even if no-one uses it.

Be sure to tell the authors of the maps that this is happening, they're always starved for more criticism and might even hop in.

Will do!

I can remember some instances where we tested a map, sent feedback to the mapper... Then it turned out he had abandoned his map weeks ago and was quite bemused anyone was playing it.

Progress:

Map thread has been posted http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=24233

also here on HH viewtopic.php?f=38&t=10915

and on THG http://triggerhappygamers.com/modules.p ... pic&t=4048

Added event to calendar and steam group... so I think that's everything.

I was thinking of using a mirror map from about 6.40 as a warmup while people join, then get the first new map on at about 7.

3 minutes before each mapchange, I'll post a warning so that everyone can quickly type their feedback and it'll be recorded in the STV demo.

Maps should be chosen by Wednesday and I'll see if I can get this installer up.

Also working on a NMN config that will disable all time/winlimits, change server name, etc
