HH2 no longer has an automatic alltalk vote.

Alltalk is disabled by default.

If players would still like to be able to talk to the other team, then there is a plugin on the server that allows this.

Use the following script to make use of it.
Code:
alias +alltalk "voiceall; +voicerecord"
alias -alltalk "-voicerecord; voiceall"
bind h +alltalk
Replace h with whatever key you would like to use for "alltalk".

Hopefully, this provides the best of both worlds.
  • Private voice communication for teamplay.
  • Public voice communication for socialising.


This plugin has been disabled pending review.

The plugin worked pretty decently, but a lot of people are really missing alltalk, mostly for the social aspect. It'd be cool if that could be turned on again :D

Wouldn't that make more sense to be the teamtalk place though? It's how it's used in fight nights, too.

I'm not completely sure why alltalk was turned off in the first place but alltalk was used quite a lot by regulars and gave the server a pretty friendly atmosphere. It seems a lot easier to get people in one team to talk tactics in an external server than go "hi" to pubs.

No, not really. Here's why in 2 words. Autobalance. Infiltration.

It's definitely better for those that want to socialise and chat, to join mumble. You can even talk between maps and outside of the server.

It's better for talk that is about the game to be given priority within the game.

But we had alltalk for years and it worked fine, "infiltration" never happened (where are you getting that from?) and teamtalk getting to the other side never mattered much - it seemed more important for people to laugh with someone on the other team, and if they can hear on which side their own uber is coming from, whatever. I've heard way more people complain about there not being alltalk over the last few days (or giving instructions for the plugin) than I ever heard complaints about the alltalk itself. I'm pretty sure it netted us some regulars in itself too, because random pubs would often join in if they had a mic.

It's a fairly small community but for the most part it's too loose to consistently get together in a mumble server. Having ease of access in the first thing that brings people together, the game itself, would be best.

I've spoken to a few people who enjoyed being able to work with their team over the mic in the past week, and a few who even left the server because alltalk was on 100% of the time.

Note to members: alltalk is fine while the server is filling, once it gets past >12 players or so, please keep it switched off.

We had an alltalk vote before - a pretty democratic way of doing this. What was the problem with that?
