Nocrit servers are boring! Crits are the surprise factor of this game. So what if you die a couple of times to crits. When you get them yourselves its fun. It would be more tactical to use kritskrieg then tho, when nobody else cant get crits.

I'm against this. Crits are what help you push that little extra bit when you need it. Playing without crits will make it really boring in my opinion, but that's me.
No, thats not just you Eion... I think crits are such a nice feature, how many times did it not save your ass (well, also kill you, but thats just fair i guess...), and everytime my rocket launcher/flame thrower/scattergun/whatever spits out those shiny projectiles and gives me this little sizzling sound, I just feel soooooo mighty
I'd be interested in playing no crits for a while, as I think it'd be intriguing to see how I do. But I'm not wedded to the concept.

Re: Changing server 3 to a no crit server.
This is more a question of do we as a community support the concept of league play on our public servers, or do we keep that strictly for competition only. Do we want to attract other clan players to our servers, and in particular to offer people a friendly no strings way of entering into the league style play of TF2? Are we happy to stay as we are on the public side of things?
There is no doubt our servers are busy, but I have to admit the standard of play isnt that high. Theyre standard (Albeit friendly and well looked after) public servers, complete with the usual array of clanners, regular players and new players.
Java pays for server 3 himself, so any decision on what happens to it is up to him rather than anyone else.
Any change to the other public servers is a matter of community opinion as they are funded (at least in part) by the community in general.
Really this would require a new server if we were to try it. Probably 16 players would suffice though. Itd really need some sort of quantifiable interest check and a funding method in place before we could try it.
As for do I think its a good idea? Well i'd certainly play on it, but whether we could attract enough ppl to populate it to a worthwhile level to pay for running it I dont know.

I'm going to be boring and agree with PiLsY, very good post. Some interesting questions are raised. I think if we find a niche and manage to garner players attracted to the no-crits prospect I'm sure that with the support if some regs and clanners it could be quite popular.
As wooj said there are a few no-crits servers but an HH endorsed nocrits server? That's something else entirely and I think it could work.
Maybe we could trial it, advertise it through various channels - maybe even have an opening match with regs/clanners and willing comp. players we've met along the way? Could be very fun indeed

I think this would be cool to I would play on it.............
I dont think this has any think to do with league mind you.
I just think it would be good to have a no crit server would make it a bit more skill based.

Re: Changing server 3 to a no crit server.
Im using the word league purely to describe the config that would be run on this kind of server - ie class limit 2, crits off.
Im not inferring that we should create a league or play every game like your sisters virginity depended on it.
Its just an alternate style of play, that while not to everyones taste definitely has a strong following (backed up by the 1000+ clan members registered to the uktf2l site alone) amongts TF2ers.
Again, just to re-iterate I think weve moved off the original topic of changing server 3 onto dicussing the possible purchase of an extra server with 16 slots to try this out on. The servers we have now are just fine the way they are with regards popularity.
