64k cable on NTL around 7 or 8 years back was awesome. Pinged between 2 and 10 in hl mods, even to servers as far as germany. Even pinged lower than a 100mbit lan at times.

Wish I knew what the formula was? Could do with some of that ;).

I'm an acceleration hater - I remember changing from windows 98 to XP and going around a month without hitting the broad side of a barn until I accidentally found the tickbox. Do you have enhance pointer precision checked in windows still or have you turned that off as well as in game acceleration? I found I had to go from 5 to 8 sensitivity in game when I turned the windows acceleration off, but its tons better.

First thing i turn off :) It's awful. Why did they invent such an abomination :(

Lets you do smaller movements i guess. But know what? Small rapid movements is what is destroying peoples health - giving pain in the wrists and what not. They should learn people to do large movements instead, its healthier ;)

Post Re: Performance
Ok guys u clearly have nice connections :) but what about us lot in the outbacks of Hampshire etc! I'm right slap bang in the New Forest so old copper lines here. My connection was meant to be as close to 8mbps as possible but the line tests pull in about 1.8Mbitps- downloads on my good machine from a decent source about 150kbps. So what would be your guess for that kind of connection (im guessing its pretty standard these days). My ping generally seems good but i was guessing that was due to being close to the server? (I may not be).
Also mouse is a 2000dpi model.

To be fair mate I don't think anyone can say. Although your line is slower than most if its a good clean connection it won't necessarily make any difference in tf2.

First thing to do is get net graph on.
Next increase your rate until you start to see choke or loss on netgraph.
Next set your cl_cmdrate to 10
Start raising your cl_updaterate until you get loss/choke.
Start raising your cl_cmdrate until you get loss/choke. <-- you may need to balance updaterate and cmdrate against each other until you like how it feels. They share your connection bandwidth so reducing one increases the available bandwidth to the other, thereby allowing you to increase it.
If things look jerky or you start to lag then reduce updaterate until it goes.
As a rough guess try cl_interp 0.04 in the console. This does work client side and controls lag prediction time - I'm guessing your ping is about 40 - 80 yeah?

For your mouse config just turn off enhance pointer precision in windows under your mouse properties and for your config copy one of ours posted here already then mess with sensitivity to suit. Be warned, it will feel weird at first as its different. Trust me though when you get used to it (about 15 mins or so) its MUCH better.

Get yourself a powerball sorts out all the carpel tunnel stuff and makes you your wrists able to do marathons ;)

I found a gaming mouse with sensitivity adjust the best thing, lets you adjust the speed with a button on the top ingame. turn it down for sniping accuracy and up when you need to spin around quick. All the extra buttons are good too, just assign em to weapon switches to whip your pistol etc out. Logitech mx518 http://uk.insight.com/apps/productprese ... 8&src=FRO1
