Innocent, the problem is that 90% of teams with 3+ engineers are not organised and using them well, this makes its a pain for the people playing other classes as some of their team is not contributing.

Has nobody run into the demoman problem on the last stage of dustbowl? 3 demos there and you lock it right down, backed up by 3 sentrys and a few pyros and heavies and its simply not possible to win. We're hitting these problems because there's 24 slots on the server and the maps simply arent designed for that many players. I think valve were heavily influenced by cs and tfc when designing the game, and specifically the maps, meaning the optimum players for our currentmaps are between 10 and 20 total. Maybe this will change with badlands and the other new map due soon as they see how the community plays the game. Afterall they have to tweak the gameplay based on how the big collective "we" play it.

There's places on all the maps where overflow of a class will lock it down when player numbers are raised high enough. Its down to map design. Until we start seeing huge maps for 24 - 32 players we're going to see this sort of problem. Whenever people discuss it you always get the "oh but you can just do this" element - yes I agree there should always be a way of overcoming any given situation, and on paper there is. In the actual game though when you're on fire, being shot, blowing up and shooting at what you think may have possibly been a spy its a whole different kettle of fish, so lets not get into discussions on how you'd just be able to do it as we all know it will never quite work out that way :lol:.

yeah but thats the point of the last point of dustbowl.

if you get to that point in dustbowl then the blue team has been consistently beating red team. This final map is like the UBEr boss fort level. Red get maximum advantage, and it's super hard for blue but it's still extremely fun fun fun. and it means after being beaten 4/5-0 red still come out with a good time.

PLUS i have seen people win it on 24 ppl servers and 28 as well. Personally I love the last map on dustbowl, both attacking and defending. I think people have a good time in it but everyone acknowledges that it's a damn tough offence. but a good coordinated attack will win.

one of the things i frequently see is that ubers are wasted trying to cover too much ground on that map.

as you say one choke point is usually covered by multiple sentries snipers and demo and it's a crazy slaughter house. When people get ubered i see them rushing over the bridge, which (if guarded by a good demo) will see the uber being blown into the moat and nullefied.

now really this bit should be stuck in tactics or something. but i really think the first ubers should be used to secure both buildings either side of the moat, because that opens up the attack on 3 fronts (as you view it from red spawn): across the bridge, on the left huging the wall, and on the right (you can jump from the platform next to the medi pack onto the right hand platform overlooking the moat). and really with the 15 min odd you have to attack people should be looking at a devide and conquer approach, rather than rushing in like berzerkers.

yeah been there when that happened once, especially nice cause we were still trying to cap the 1st point when overtime came up.
