Post Mapvotes again
I know we've had this so many times now but what is going on, badwater comes up so often and it always wins in a vote, it seems to be the standard map after every restart seeing how it's on every morning, and some votes are just ridiculously horrible.

Look at that, there is not a single decent map in there.
(ctf_mercy_b4 won, for the record)

Do we really need maps like that on our servers? I know frog put lots of mechanisms in place that should prevent low rated maps from coming up but seeing how people even rate hoodoo and thundermountain and 9cp_shitmap_b4_r17 highly (most likely because of the rating coming up midgame), maybe it's time to manually kick out some of the crap that never gets voted up (or shouldn't be there in the first place).
This happens every time I -for some reason- have a week during which I play a lot, the few days I do the votes are so horrible that I just have to say something, then frog posts some statistics that don't effectively mean anything, then that's it. Maybe there is a way to check serverlogs every time a vote comes up, look at the "wtf is this shit, only bad maps, etc" in chat. It doesn't show that in statistics.

tl;dr: server #1 24/7 badwater and customs yesyes?

I'd say dont feed the troll, but as fluffy is always trolling that would be pointless! :)

There's worse maps on the rotation than badwater or the maps on the choice so I don't see what the problem is.
Jump on HH5 and load up whatever map you want if it's that big a deal

HH2 might be a better idea, I'm usually available to help fill it.

Post Re: Shitmap Fortress on Badwater Heavies #1
I think Fluffy did his post a disservice with his TL;DR, and even his Thread Title (good work, Fluff)

He highlighted some valid points:

The rating system is either flawed in it's implementation (as is the Map Vote), or the majority of people who vote are droolling simpletons, excitedly replacing their capacity for rational thought with whatever the meme generator regurgitates for them in convenient pictorial format.

There are some terrible maps in rotation, and they should never have the opportunity to be played. Is there anyone willing to argue that maps such as CTF Sawmill, 2Fort, Mercy, Doublecross, Stovepipe, Borax, Outback, Repository, and Indulge should not be removed from rotation? I should note here that I'm at least attempting to be reasonable: I loathe the mere notion of pushing/defending carts, but some Payload maps are better designed than others.

Often what compounds the frustration of one of these maps winning the vote is the fact that unless there is an admin of similar mind to yourself (and in my experience that usually means that Gash or Kifter are playing), you're trapped, without the means to RTV your way onto another map. Additionaly, being told by the sole admin (who soon leaves the server himself) to "Stop whining" after finding yourself on 2Fort and politely asking if the map could be changed, isn't much fun either.

To his Badwater point. I don't think it get's played too much. All things considered I'd rather play it 4 times straight than one round of Thunder Mountain, but varying the daily starting map might be a good idea.

That said, who looks at a forum post consisting of 4 paragraphs & thinks it's too long to read? Maybe it's all those overrun sentences, Fluff.

Hey, looking at the two existing replies before yours it clearly is too long to read. :)

Thanks for your input henchling, that's basically what I wanted to say but I was raging hard that nothing at all about this has changed in two years, despite it coming up several times. Changed the title then, bunch of sissies. :p2

Also, bolt, I talked about the votes, the fact that some less terrible maps were presented as options during this 2 hour timeframe doesn't prove my experience playing on the server for like 30 hours this week wrong. At the moment I say to myself "I hope there's gonna be a good map in there", because I know it's at most gonna be one good map. Why? Why not have just good maps? And by 'good' I mean quality maps, including payload, not custom maps that have proven terrible.

Post Re: Mapvotes again
I agree with Fluffy. The past week or so the map votes have been horrible quite a few times (Manor_event AND Mountainlab in the same vote? wtf?). I remember a time when votes 1 and 2 were always a stock cp and pl map and I think that worked quite well. What happened to it?

I agree with Fluff and hench here, some of the votes that come up contain all bad maps. There either needs to be a change in the voting system or in how the maps are chosen for the vote imo.

Swiftwater, mountainlab and mercy are good maps. Give them a chance!

Post Re: Mapvotes again
I always end up joining badlands 5 minutes before mapchange, and then a vote like that pops up. No choice votes probably has more to do with my hatred of 90% of the maps in the map pool though.

The problem I have with having a stock cp in the pool is only that Badlands and Dustbowl share the same prefix. You don't get that same problem with the pl maps, they mostly work the same way even if some might prefer one over another. What I'd really like is to have a 5cp map always in the vote. I know there aren't that many, but I'd say a sizable chunk of HH players vote for them over anything else.
