Post Re: For the love of Dustbowl
Love for the other maps is a good idea...but none of them matches the gameplay that dustbowl offers. In particular most custom maps lack the opportunities for fancy movement & trickjumps that really make you master the map. Maps like Turbine hardly even have a single obstacle besides the containers in the middle :(

Until custom maps are up to par with the level of dustbowl in terms of gameplay and opportunities, people will always RTV back to dustbowl. Maybe Goldrush will provide a new impulse.

Its no a democracy ! a map vote every minute or so until whoever initiated it gets the map they wanted DUSTBOWL. I'm sick of it, we had about 2 minutes of Badlands then got changed to 2FORT then cause whoever did the mapvote didn't want to play 2fort another mapvote !!!!

I hate the voting system because even if about 40% of the server wants a map (Dustbowl) everyone else who didn't want it changes their vote to Dustbowl because they know that if they don't, then the map won't change. And even if they don't want the map to change they vote anyway because then they want to have their say. So it's not really a democracy anyway...

my word, although I start to like DB... Maybe its just conditioning, since we play it over and over again...

I'm a gravelpit lover. Dustbowl is even below wellnary IMO, but only if wellnary played on matching teams. Dustbowl is good defending and if balanced good attacking. Valve did a great job balancing dustbowl tho, 'cause you really get the 'impossible win' sometimes.

Dustbowl don't go with fast rezzing. It gets impossible to attack with 4 engies, lest some very fancy treamwork is rolled out.

Wellnary type maps maybe boring in pub play, they can be more dynamic than the quite straightforeward Dustbowl. Having more than 2 CP's makes for more complexity (Cp's 2 on well aswell as granary make fore the most interesting gameplay , but they are SO different)

On CTF mach4 = win 8-)

I'm a Hydro guy myself, But I never mind playing dustbowl, it gives me a chance to home my (Non-existant) skills as spy. However its only ever interesting when the teams are ballenced skillwise, and relentlessly boring when the teams are one-sided.
