What does the projectile look like exactly? Also, the direct hit always was a pretty effective heavy counter.

Re: The Grocket Update
I'd say the best way to counter the heavy's dominance is to nerf or remove the weapons they've been giving him. It seems like TF2 is turning into an arms race where we add an overpowered weapon to one class, and then try and give an overpowered counter weapon to another class to compensate, except a few classes like engi and pyro are left out of the fun or just given a few crappy items like the Detonator.
At the very least they should test this stuff properly in the Beta and take account of the feedback given.
Played around with the new launcher for a bit, and I have to say that as a gameplay element it was pretty much needed. Soldiers can now successfully counter Heavies, which should cut down the Heavy rampages on public servers and give other classes some breathing space.
If you're afraid of Heavy spam being replaced by Soldier spam: Soldiers move slowly, have to reload, and their weapon can be dodged - none of which applies to Heavies.
As for it being against TF2's visual theme.. TF2 has a visual theme?
Once upon a time...
I fail to see how the new Rocket Launcher counters Heavies. Because it has one more rocket? Either way, the way to balance a game isn't to buff counters to the OP class...the problem with Heavy is that his potency has increased with almost every unlock, from the GRU through Sanvich to Tomislav. Thats what needs fixing imo, not adding more fuel to the fire of power creep.
The Polygon count on these new models... wow. Does this mean that one Mangler can have more Polygons than every low quality model, be it class, weapon or hat that is on my screen put together? Thats absurd. Hopefully they'll patch in some LOD models for this shit sooner rather than later.
Between the performance I get on the HH servers and all this new crap making my poor PC sweat I'm pretty sick of pub TF2. At least 6s are free from all this mess, I think it just a fucking shame that with every update the gap between casual pub player and semi-competitive 6s player widens even further.
I just played for 3 hours and didn't have a problem. Stop QQ you BABBIES.
Normally I'd agree with you on any of the previous updates. But I just played Scout on server 2 and couldn't dodge one rocket. I'd see a flash of red and no matter where I ran, I either got wounded heavily (with nothing more than 10 health left) and somebody else finishes me off, or killed in one hit. I couldn't move anywere without this happening.
The infinate ammo thing doesn't help either.

I lol'd.
I just wish they would cease the irrelevant crap that doesn't help the game improve at all. More quantity is not more quality... and potentially the opposite. Keep it simple, stupids.

Re: The Grocket Update
The laser rocket launcher seems like something a modder would tack on... same goes for the bleed effect they added ages ago. They seem to chuck more stuff in without testing it for feedback, or going back and polishing it to the level they had when the game came out.
Valve had plenty of time to fix everything. They obviously don't care about balance. The game is not meant to be balanced. It is not meant to be played competitively in 6v6 match ups. You are supposed to go on some server, have some fun, do silly stuff in-game and buy crap in the Mann Co. Store. And when it starts to get boring, just wait a couple of weeks for the next big update. There are people who have already spent more money on items than I paid for the entire orange box. They exist. And they most likely don't care about balance either (or worse: they think the game IS balanced). They just want to have some fun, do silly stuff in-game and buy more crap in the store. Can't argue with them. Let them have their fun. I think it's stupid. But the game is aimed at those people, not the passionate veteran or competitive players.
If you are waiting for Valve to finally tackle some balance issues (Wrangler, Heavy, Caber) or bugs (facestabs, stickies dissolving into thin air instead of doing damage, Demoman drinking out of his paintrain, hit detection), you can wait forever. It's not going to happen.
