Removing a game-mode, which is effectively what 5cp is, is not really something I think has any benefit other than to the small group of people that don't like 5cp. As much as it is a good thing to have the less/not at all played maps played again I cant see how eliminating 5cp is a solution to this.
Also the maps you listed do get played every day, apart from a few, and there is always the regs server for the more obscure ones.
Sorry to be negative but I disagree that this idea will help anyone other than, like I say, the minority that don't want to play 5cp.

Hmmmm new map rotation looks good.... but then even a PL addict like me votes for 5 cp at times so.....
Can the map voting system be tweaked a bit ?

In all fairness to him, bfox, we do play far too much 5CP on the HH public servers. It's tedious, frustrating, and in effect ruins the game mode.
Thing is (and this is open for change if i am completely wrong) the maps that come up in the votes are the maps people want to play, maps such as pipeline don't appear because people don't want to play them.
It's not by word of mouth that a map gets taken down, its via the map rating feature we have, when it pops up you rate the map on how much you enjoy it, it's open to everyone who joins the server not just an elite few, everyone who votes a map low will force the map lower in the list, likewise if a map gets rated highly it gets pushed to the top. The more you see a map in the vote the higher up the list it is and therefore it's more popular.
long story short and im sure i've cocked up my post a bit.
Pipeline and maps like it do not appear in the voting because on the whole, most people on the servers don't like them. Unfortunatly we can't please everyone, but we try our best.
imo, there is a perfect balance right now, server 2 and 3 get alot of the payload maps played more frequently than 1 does, if you want to play more pl then i'd suggest either of those 2 servers.

But using the map voting process is "unfair" on the newer players as the downvote has already happened and most new players have never seen the less popular maps and would hardly get the change using the current system. That's why I suggested that it be tested to see how it keeps that server populated and I cannot see any harm in this being implemented as a trial.

new players join with the new "Start gaming" function, where they join a random server that exists. there probably isnt a new player who only plays on HH. and even if he would spend alot of time on HH, he probably would still join different servers due the fact that he is new to the game and wants to see what kind of shit exists in the TF2 World
