The tf2 server is crashing alot lately and booting the majority of people off tf2 altogether. The game freezes and an error message pops up. Is this a steam problem or just the HH server?

Re: Tf2 Server
Happens upon a map finishing loading, on the MOTD screen for me. All of TF2 goes. AFAIK it's only on the HH servers.
Think thats still a valve bug, happens to every server at random times.

Not exclusive to HH servers i can confirm this as i been getting it a hell of a lot at random times on various servers, known valve bug thats been around a few years, unfortunatly (unless you want to disconnect on map end and rejoin to avoid the CTD) the only possible fix (it does not last forever though if it does work :/) is to re install TF2.
Edit: In fact there's been no comment from valve to say they are even working on fixing it which is worrying to say the least, if you wish to try out some apparant fixes / work arounds then have a read here,
First of all the server (OP is referring to HH4) isn't actually crashing (most of the time). (There is a known set of circumstances relating to the Saxtoner mode that causes a 20 second loop and this will be fixed soon and is a different matter.)
Valve changed their steamid authentication system a while ago (around F2P switch), and ever since there have been issues with players dropping with 'No Steam Logon'. It's not something exclusive to |H|H| servers. It happens to all TF2, CS:S, DODS, HL:DM servers.
Valve are aware of the problem and are trying to find a solution. The update on the 6th September added extra features to aid server admins and Valve get closer to working out what the cause of problem is. http://www.steampowered.com/platform/up ... php?id=440

Added an additional diagnostic message when a player is dropped from a server due to Steam authentication failure
The way the old auth system used to work is that when a new client connected to a game server, the game server would attempt to authenticate just that client with the steam backend.
The new auth system works in a little different way. Instead of authenticating just that single user, it will re-authenticate every user already on the server in addition to the one that just joined.
The network layout of the steam backend is a little complex, but to sum it up there are seperate reverse proxy servers called CM or Connection Masters. There's something like 30-40 of these servers at any time, and everyone is connected to one of them. These are the servers you communicate with when you're connected to steam.
The reason you see "no steam logon" for groups of clients and not the entire server is because one or two CMs went down, or otherwise disconnected the clients that were connected to it. When the backend attempts to reauthenticate all the clients on the server, it will drop the clients which lost connection to the CM with the "no steam logon" message, because that's indeed what happened. They lost their connection to steam and aren't logged on anymore.
Im just noticing it alot more over the last few days as I mainly play the H|H server Saxtoner #4, so thought id raise the issue here incase it was just a H|H server problem
Have you tried making a backup of your models folder found at ~\Steam\steamapps\acc_name\team fortress 2\tf\models and then deleting the content of the original one? Seems like something is corrupt with the models.
