This sounds like that nothing can be done to prevent the stacking - it is quit frequent but quite a lot of the time, the stacked team usually loses. The scramble mechanism is very useless - sometimes it swaps all the medics to one team lol.

I always choose auto-assign quickly, I have no patience to wait to see who joins

i dont think anything should be restricted because of the issue.

But this is something we should just encourage our regs and members to be better at, so a communication reminding the reg's/members would prob be the best bet imo.

there seems to be constant balance discussions that go on here when its usually down to class setups. And also, lets not forget its a game where 1 team wins and the other loses. Yes its important that teams arent unfair all the time but I very much doubt that much can be done to ensure a perfectly matched set of teams all the time.

Whatever happend to people feeling competative and wanting to beat the other team even if it has got some good players on? - get your mic's out and think of some strategy's to beat them then get a REALLY fullfilling win.

Anything too unbalanced the autoscramble will take care of?

would like to see an autoscramble distribute medic's evenly though as a side note. Annoying when it puts all medics onto one team!

How to beat the other team = Get in their grill. Plain and simple.

I usually keep telling people that the team is losing because of lack of medics/combat classes and that a scramble WONT solve that.

Oh yeah, scramble happens. There's only 1 medic in the entire server, guess what happens?

STEAMROLL AGAIN.

And I usually go
"Scramble sure helped, HUH?" afterwards

It's not like he's some kind of unstoppable killing machine that plows (or ploughs since this site is British) through the ranks of the enemy team.
He's always waiting for something to happen, usually someone from the other team overextending or his team pushing. Basically the exact opposite of my playing style. ;)
So if the rest of "team Heisenberg" doesn't have a combo or just isn't good enough, he won't carry them to victory.

As to the thread topic, I'm usually the first one on the server after a map change and I always join a random team. I agree that classes are more important than player names.

Just stopping here to say that instead of scrambling every time teams feel unfair you could check your class setup, I'm sorry but if you have 2 snipers, 2 spies and no combat classes or medics your team deserves to lose. I'd also like to point out that just because one team has more regs/members doesn't mean they're stacking and it certainly does not mean they are going to steamroll your ass five times in next 10 minutes.

I wouldn't remove the ability to select your team, most of the time I select random team unless I have a friend or two in one team.

I always select random when joining, also can't be bothered to see who's where, don't really care which team I'm on. I don't recall seeing a lot of stacking, but then I tend to assume that it was the random system that plonked a lot of regs/members on the same team.

It does irk me that by random chance I mostly seem to be NOT on that team ;)

Whilst this is perfectly accurate I've left servers many times because, although I enjoy medic and play it often, when the rest of my team consists of 1 scout, 4 snipers and a pair of spies it really doesn't matter how well I play. It's so frustrating when you can't do anything to improve the class balance because you're already vital :(

Post Re: Radical suggestion - team stacking
This thread isn't about team balance. We all know that a badly balanced team is going to loose, but that's off topic.

I made a suggestion that would prevent people from stacking the teams from the start. It happens mostly on HH2, so those playing HH1 may not have noticed it much, but honestly it happens regularly. I still can't see why this system wouldn't work effectively to force randomised teams, and I still don't see it's downside assuming you can allow people to switch teams after a minute or so of the game starting.
