Post Annoying draw distance/fog issue?
I'm half certain that none of the terms are actually correct in a Source Engine context, but since I'm not familiar with it, it's the best I can do.

Anyway, I have a bit of a problem with not being able to see very well. I'm assuming this is a game issue and not just my eyes going screwy. :P
For example, looking from the BLU spawn into the tunnel at Gold Rush (the one with the house to the right, popular sniper/engi campsite), it's really difficult to spot enemies in the tunnel. It's mostly gray, and they're really hard to make out. It can be done, but I have to glare like a maniac at it.

I'm not sure if this is a config issue (although any pointers to relevant config entries would be great!) or just.. another kind of issue. It's not like this on my old computer.

I'll try getting a screenshot from each to compare. For now, this screenshot is from my "new" computer.

Anybody know what's going on?

Could be LOD or could be weather effects messing around, try disabling them or just messing around with video settings in general.

I'm sure you've done all the generic update drivers verify cache malarky.

I've had weather effects off all along. I think I updated graphics drivers, too. Will check for updates too, though. Where/How do I set LOD?

I also verified the files. Defragged them too, while I was at it.

Could be that you were running directx8 as I just tested with -dxlevel 81 in my launch options and the haze in that part of the map is gone.

Old computer (my brother is using it and has been ignoring my request for a screenie for 7 hours -.-) has a GTS 250 (?) and my current has a GTX 560 Ti. Both of these are nVidia Geforce.

Everything looks a lot clearer on the old computer, though. I wonder why that could be.

Edit: will try the dxlevel thing.

Edit 2: Turns out that after setting dxlevel to 8.1, it's a lot clearer. Thanks for the tip! Virtual cookie for you.
