Post Re: Competitive PL servers
One single uber is enough to turn the tides. And that's only between 2 people; that doesn't indicate coordination, people just follow the flow of the game. Even then the intended of the uber push wasn't to turn the tide of the game but rather to stop a push, which incidentally lead to the other team to fall back completely.

There's no planning in that, it's lack of coordination and people simply following the flow.

I find it funny that it's an HH member saying that seeing as the HH pubs show examples of team coordination (i.e. where there are 4/5 players speaking per team, they're responding to each other and the rest of the team is listening to calls even if they aren't making them themselves) more frequently than any other pub server I've ever seen.

I am speaking from past experience and I rarely come across a game where more than 1 (Extra_Cold) talks.

I can't speak of how other pub servers play since I only play on HH servers. I suppose there's an inherent sense of coordination between players but I still believe that's how the flow of HH pub servers has developed due to the amount of regular players.

Even then it takes very little to turn the tides; people are just too defensive to do something about it.

I love a bit of payload to split up the maps from the usual suspects that come around, but you get what comes up so meh either way!

Only other server I've played on that's had half decent comms is an Uberium one, but thats normally when they turn all talk on at the weekend and its more the other teams calling than proper coordination! :P

I must admit that I'm no fan of 5CP, but then I've been enjoying myself on HH1/2 playing 5CP, but then thats more likely to the level of skill found on HH.

But I always try voting for a PL map or a AvD map (so long as a decent popular one comes along) because the variety is nice when you've just come off a granary/fastlane/foundry/warmfront session

Boris

Oh and Thundermountain is a Sat/Sun afternoon map.... mostly because it can take an afternoon to play through :D
