Post My ping to the new HH servers is high
As the title suggests my ping to the new servers is pretty high. Is there a ping test of some sort I can do to see what's going on?

Mine too

I get 120-130+ to all HH servers and a server called "knights social club"

To all multiplay and UK-TF servers I get the usual 20'ish

I tried traceroute and ping commands on my linux box yesterday.... but for some reason it would'nt resolve the ip addys. or give me any other info
Might d/l some windows tools and have a play tonight , but I suspect its a VM routing problem meaning all our packets get sent to HH via Moscow

Virgin Media have A LOT of switches and routers across the UK.

The issues are probably isolated and due to a few possible reasons.

Virgin Media are doubling everyone's broadband speeds (for free) over the coming months. Traffic maybe temporarily re-routed whilst switches are upgraded.

If your connection to the |H|H| server was going via Global Switch (gsw routers) yesterday then by looking at the Backbone traffic diagram that I have previously linked, and as linked above, then you would have seen that those switches were saturated.

I use Virgin Media in Bristol.

Code:
Pinging thehh.co.uk [188.165.220.57] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 188.165.220.57: bytes=32 time=18ms TTL=54
Reply from 188.165.220.57: bytes=32 time=18ms TTL=54
Reply from 188.165.220.57: bytes=32 time=18ms TTL=54
Reply from 188.165.220.57: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=54

Ping statistics for 188.165.220.57:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 17ms, Maximum = 18ms, Average = 17ms

If you use the Internet regularly, then entertain your curiosity and learn a little bit about how it all works, if you don't know already. :)

Also unless you provide a traceroute using tracert or http://thehh.co.uk/hh2u , then any discussion is only clutching at straws.

Vickery, grabbed your IP and I can tell you that the issue that is affecting you is within the Virgin Media network between Leeds and Brentford.
Code:
6  brnt-bb-1b-ae5-0.network.virginmedia.net (213.105.159.49)  4.713 ms  4.748 ms  4.684 ms
7  leed-bb-1a-as6-0.network.virginmedia.net (213.105.175.25)  91.636 ms  91.594 ms  91.551 ms
All destinations that you connect to via this route will be affected.

This adds more to the picture, it narrows things down to the Brentford exchange.
