There are a group of players on the server who consistently taunt after each kill.

It's pretty indiscriminate. I don't believe there's any malice involved.

I don't like it. I find it irksome.

I've asked them to stop. Repeatedly.

They don't.

They feel that because they enjoy it, and have been doing it for a long time I should be OK with it.

They feel it engenders some kind of community.

I feel the opposite.

If you kill me in funny, or well earned way. Great. I'm fine with that. Go ahead and taunt.

I find what they do to be obnoxious.

I'm not their friend. I'm not here to play with them. They probably don't care much for me. That's fine, I don't mind that at all.

However, I'm not being deliberately antagonist. They are. If I'm poked often enough, I will react.

Because I, on occasion, will react they believe I'm the one with the problem.

All I want is to be left out of your little green-haired club.

I think you need to get over this tbh. We are not going to tell people on our servers that they cannot taunt after kills.

The obvious and most immediately practical thing, I think, you can do, is to not let people who annoy you, get to you. Easier said than done, of course.

At some point in the near-ish future it's possible that I could write a plugin that allows donors to toggle, on and off, the ability to be taunted after being killed, with a setting in your user settings on here.

I don't believe that their reasons for hitting the taunt key are malicious.

Regardless of their intent, I find it annoying.

Because I find it annoying, I have repeatedly asked them not to taunt me.

I've asked nicely, and perhaps not so nicely. It doesn't matter what I ask, they ignore my request regardless.

I'm not asking that you prevent them from taunting. I'm simply asking, here, where it might be noticed by someone with a different mindset to them and who might have the ability to exercise some kind of influence over them, that they refrain from taunting me.

It need not be a big issue. I just want to play TF2, free of something I find unpleasant.

Is it really so unreasonable to ask that these people refrain from doing something that annoys me?

Isn't it enough for them to stop doing something they know annoys me?

If they know it annoys me and they persist doing it, what does that make them?

it is annoying especially if someone does it after a body shot or something, but really I know the problem is mine and mine alone, cant really have a go at people for just taunting.

Expect The only thing I would say is that a lot that do get killed very soon after as they will do it at quite critical points, so I do feel it stifles team play to some degree but thats my only practical problem with it.

Snipers taunt out of politeness. It makes for good screenshots. It's part of HH2 culture. It's not meant to annoy you. Cheer up!

btw: After most kills I say "thanks" to check if it's a DR spy. I hope THAT's not annyoing.

Depending on whether I'm playing well or really badly bad, I find the taunting either lively and funny or infuriating. But then again, getting worked up over something like that just makes me laugh at myself as well.

No, I don't really mind it. It's just these certain persons' style and I wouldn't want to prevent them from doing it.

Here's an idea: If they don't know someone, or know that a person isn't OK with their idea of fun, maybe they could refrain from hitting the taunt key.

They get to share their fun with a group of like-minded people, and the rest of us are left out of it.

I think it's pretty absurd that HH has become the server where a group of people taunt each other for fun (especially when you once asked someone to leave the server and not return just for hitting the "medic" key over and over again.), but if that's what you want, so be it. Just leave me out of it.

its quite hard to regulate something which is part of the game man, even more so trying to penalize people for it.

I think the only people who can criticize it are team mates as your spending time taunting rather than playing but other than that its kind of your problem you're annoyed by it. (as its my problem when im annoyed by it, which I am sometimes btw).

If you have asked them to stop and they don't, then I can see why it would annoy you Henchling. Hopefully the people responsible are reading this thread and now realise how much it gets to you and they will respect your wishes and no longer do it.

That said, I can't see how we could ever start to dish out punishments to people for taunting. There are so many things in TF2 that annoy people, myself included. You should hear mumble sometimes when there are a group of us on the server. I wouldn't like to repeat some of the language used on there when people are annoyed. I guess what I'm trying to say is taunting is in the game, it annoys people sometimes, but so does a lot of other aspects of TF2. I don't think we can, or should stop people from doing it.
