He does not have to answer a question. Jesus what is the matter with people sometimes. This topic has changed to raise a point of does excessive taunting create a negative atmosphere on the servers. Stop with the group mentality and think outside of your own friendship circles for one second. |

Scroll up a bit
Additionally: - Henchling and frog think that if new players join the server and find themselves taunted constantly by a small group of people they might be alienated. - K3D and others think that constant taunting gets in the way of teamwork and trying your best at the game. Can we stop the waffle and get on with these topics please. Otherwise go and find something else to do. |

LISTEN. Or read rather. This is not about henchling alone. It may have started with people misinterpreting what henchling wanted, but by now everyone should understand is that we're discussing something that COULD be a potential negative aspect of our servers to people who don't have the courage to voice their opinions, but are still bothered by taunting. |

I find there's something almost cosmically hilarious about the idea that when I start a thread to discuss a behaviour than even one of my biggest detractors (Spandex), has called "excessive" (more than is necessary, normal, or desirable; immoderate.), that I get shouted down and called "mental" for my opinions. Here, on the forum for the server where in the past, people have argued for, amongst other things, a server dedicated to 5cp maps and restricted item sets, a no-random-crit server with a vote to parse unlocks back to 2008 (both servers now dead or empty 99% of the time), and perhaps more relevant, where a player was asked to leave the server and not come back simply because he hit the "Medic" button over and over again - I wish I could remember his name becasue it makes finding that thread difficult. He played Soldier, and was pretty good, but because it was deemed an annoying behaviour he was asked to go. And leave he did. I'm not calling for anyone to go anywhere. I'm not even asking that people stop taunting, but the mere act of discussing the fact that there is a group of people on the server who taunt, in their own words: "everyone they kill", is something that has caused a great deal of conflict. THIS is what is important to you? You're arguing to enable these people on THIS issue, but not to play on HH1, or the 5CP server, or use "classic" weapons? frog very kindly offered up the idea of writing a plugin that forum users (and maybe new players by default?) that could enable the person not to be taunted, if they so wished. This is a logical solution, but again something of a band aid - when the would-be taunter can't taunt when they hit their taunt key (Ha!) post-kill of a certain person, will it make them annoyed? There's clearly some kind of weird positive feedback loop occurring in this behaviour. A change to it might have...consequences. The mere suggestion of it certainly has Dazed all riled up. I'm also not entirely comfortable with the idea that this plugin would be for my benefit. As I see it, it would be simply protecting me from a behaviour that I shouldn't have to deal with in the first place. If anything, it enables the person spasmodically hitting the taunt key. In the end, it's your server, and I know there are smart, rational people behind the scenes. Whatever opinions/decisions you end up agreeing upon, I'll respect them. |

I think you will find that it is AVV and it was "Need A Dispenser Here!" spam. The warning was justified in that case, it was like it was bound to his movement keys IIRC.

Odd that I would only remember the "Medic!" spam Thanks for finding that, K3D - the memory lapse had been bugging me. Looking over it, there are some eerie similarities in the opinions voiced in that thread and those found here. To be clear: I'm not comparing the situations directly. |
