Shocking that Dazed has resorted to mudslinging. Apparently that's my department. |

and? Some people taunt, some don't. Of course it's not normal since there's no consistency. I don't, simply because there's no real time or place to do it without getting killed.
and what? "The rise"? ....really? You make it sound like it's some sort of conspiracy against you or they're doing it to spite you and/or others. People can play as they like. Hell, I've seen some people play as Medic and only run around using the syringe gun and not healing people. It's not normal no, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't do it. Zerged and his friends probably discuss fun things to do in TF2 and do it as a group since they're friends. |

Deepblue, I believe you are missing the very specific point that henchling is making. What he is referring to isn't really 'normal', it's some kind of cliquey ritual/habit/behaviour/conditioning. |

I guess I just don't really like the way Henchling made this topic as though they're making a public nuisance of themselves. I would have preferred if Henchling kept it between him and the players doing it since it's only really affecting Henchling. |

Please keep posts civil. The only solution I can see is for people not to constantly taunt Henchling and for Henchling not to change his name so people know not to taunt him. Can everyone involved agree on this? If this isn't acceptable to all then please suggest something else in a constructive manner. |

I agree with Telgor. Taunting new players could be off-putting. However a couple weeks ago when I came back after a long break from TF2, I didn't know most people on the server and I was a bit crap at the game. Zerged's taunts didn't intimidate me, they made me smile and remember who he was. He is the only person who I really remember taunting regularly, so I think of it as something as part of his character rather than something done by a clique against others. I'm glad I didn't have to 'opt in'. Others might have a different experience. |

I get very annoyed when I'm constantly headshot by ^Dazed and Zerged in an evening. But it's not them I'm annoyed at, it's myself for being so damn predictable. I have off days and it can infuriate me no end, but in the end I just wish I was good at sniping as those guys and I get over it. I never know who I've killed when I'm playing as I concentrate on playing rather than looking at the death feed all tiny in the corner of my screen. So I believe that it's easier said than done to just not taunt one person - as such it's easy to see how they both would still occasionally taunt even if trying to restrict themselves with regards to yourself. In addition (and I hold no position of authority or respect on this server so you can disregard without prejudice these remarks), the formulation of your initial post was provocative and I do feel that you could have raised the same issues much more diplomatically. Just my 2yen. -Q. |

Thanks for your contribution too, Quest. I don't know who you are, but if you believe that this is actually a matter of displaced anger over being killed over and over again by Dazed and Zerged, you're quite mistaken. I'm not sure what you feel is provocative about my opening post. It doesn't read especially sensational to me. Telgor, I feel I made a perfectly reasonable suggestion near the beginning of this thread, before Dazed decided to lose his mind: "If they don't know someone*, or know that a person isn't OK with their idea of fun, maybe they could refrain from hitting the taunt key." Selfishly, I'd quite like to continue changing my name whenever I'd like. *I find it hard to believe that a newcomer to the server would not be puzzled, and perhaps even dissuaded from playing here if they happen to suffer the misfortune of being repeatedly killed/taunted by one of these people - it's just not normal, friendly behaviour. |

This is not what I was suggesting at all, this is how I feel. Through it I was attempting to put my reply in perspective from a non-biased viewpoint.
The use of very short sentences. And newlines after each point. Adds a negative tone. Even if you didn't intend it. E.g.,
Also you went as far as to not name the individuals (a correct thing to do) but then referred to them as "your little green-haired club" identifying them. To sum up I would have posted the following including all of the important points (obviously feel free to disagree):
Much love and happiness, -Q. |
