Fair enough on the hat being irrelevant point.

I think you're being a bit melodramatic now.

You understand that there is no malice behind taunts, and yet you get unreasonably angry about them anyway. This is not an issue that many people face. Other people aren't particularly bothered by it, and some even find it amusing. Zerged has offered to make accommodations for you many times, with the reasonable condition that he actually know who you are. Surely if taunting upsets you much, you wouldn't mind sticking to one name. There isn't really much else to say here.

I have to be honest Henchling, I'm a bit confused to what you actually want. If you're unhappy about being taunted, then that's totally understandable - I won't do it and I'll inform others not to do it as well. It will require you not to change your name as Telgor suggested so we can identify you when you join. At the moment that seems like the best idea and the most practical.

Sam,

At no point have I used the word angry. I'm not an angry person. I'm puzzled by the behaviour (what is the point of taunting? What is the fun of it, especially when you haven't done anything remarkable and it's aimed at someone you don't know or isn't in on the joke?), which causes a logic impasse, which in turn can be annoying.

You say I'm being melodramatic, and maybe I am just a little bit (considerably less than Dazed who seems to think I'm a monster), but it used to be just Dazed and Zerged who did this, then it was dot, and now there's up to half the server at any given time doing it.

What requests have I made that have been turned down?

What server rules have I broken?

iRPAx,

I'm not even the only person in this thread to express displeasure at the practice.

Maybe I'm less willing to put up with it than others.

I certainly take issue with the idea that it's my problem, and mine alone.

I play on other servers all the time (UKCS, Reddit, German HQ). Not a single one suffers from this behaviour. You can find all the childish, obscene, nonsensical binds you want on Reddit, but at least I can block those out with a console command.

Extrapolate from that whatever you want.

Tigerteeth, to be honest I have no idea why you're posting in this thread.

I don't mean that as an insult, I just don't see how you're involved, nor Boris.

I quite like both of you.

The others who have expressed their view on taunting hasn't taken offence to the point of policing when taunting is appropriate or not. They have expressed that at times it can be annoying. So far you are the only one who has explicitly expressed concern on this type of behaviour. And their concern on this matter is reply to you, not as a server wide concern.

Well I'm just trying to help. :?

The cat has just puked up as well - I'm not having a good day.

I hope you can get this resolved Henchling, see you server side.

So, you're saying that being first isn't always a good thing?

I feel so betrayed.

I think many of you are missing the point henchling is trying to make. I think he's talking about the effect of taunting being harmful to the whole playerbase rather than it just being annoying for himself and was just using his own experiences as an example. Yet everyone is only concentrating on henchling.

That said, I still don't see a big enough reason have to restrict taunting in any way. Taunting happens on all servers. Sure, if a new player joins and gets taunted multiple times by the same people, they could end up leaving but they might end up ragequitting by just dying multiple times to the same people anyway. If anything, getting taunted will make the victims want to try harder until they get their revenge.

Just my opinion on the matter.

One isn't enough to create a new policy on this matter. We need a much bigger sample to grasp this subject appropriately. Others have expressed their opinion on this matter but not to the point where they want it policed, as fas as I can read.

I don't think the thread is about whether it should be policed Pax, that would seem quite difficult to enforce.
