Post Keep getting a connection error.
Alrightey, this has been happening with increasing frequency lately and it's annoying the hell out of me.

Every so often when I connect to a HH server, within three seconds of choosing a team I get lumbered with that "connection error..." message and booted off after about twenty seconds. Unfortunately, even if I manually disconnect the game still sees me as being logged into that server so I have to wait an ungodly amount of time before I can try again.

Not entirely sure what's causing this, as it seems to be entirely random. I first thought it was to do with other players connecting just before I do so I'm "losing" the last slot, but lately it's been happening even when the servers have about fifteen people on them.

Anyone know what's up? :(

Or maybe a different model of Speed Touch router?

If so, you really have 2 options:

1. Get a new router (that's what I did, well actually I'm just using an old DLink one)

2. Install an older firmware version onto the BT Home Hub, prevent it from auto-updating then telnet into the router's configuration via the command prompt and alter the required setting.

It's a Speedtouch router, so that's probably why.

I haven't the first clue when it comes to the hardware side of net connections. This was picked up ages ago when my Mother was the one in charge of PCs, etc. Since then I've upgraded everything EXCEPT the router because it's the only bit I'd royally mess up.

Figured out what's causing it: the music that plays whenever I enter the server.

I've noticed the error will always, always, always happen the moment that music starts playing. The game will work perfectly, I can log onto the server, can choose my class...but when that music kicks in, BAM. No more TF on that server for ol' poppy. Strangely, if the music begins the very moment I log on - rather than getting delayed - everything's working well. It's just when they delay happens that trouble starts.

Is there a way for me to disable that music on my end?

yeah, goto the sites home page, and click on settings (left hand side, 3rd panel down)

in here is the option MOTD Music.

Set this to no.
