Well yes, you could sign up for Fileplanet. I know a lot of people have "issues" with Gamespy/Fileplanet, just like some people have issues with McDonalds but you can't deny that a Big Mac tastes great eh? .There are more Beta keys being released daily right up until 30.4.08. The cheapest subscription you could have is a quaterly one @ $15.95. TBH it would be silly to get a subscription just for one game. However, I have found my Fileplanet Founders Club membership (the top package) to be really good value for money @ $59.95 anually. Fileplanet works in conjunction with Gamespy and if you do get a subscription, you would do well to get "Gamespy Comrade" too. It's free and works much like Xfire. The good thing about it is that you get instantly messaged when the beta keys are released giving you the edge when it comes to grabbing one.

Looking at my account details, I can see that I have taken part in almost 50 beta events like Crysis, Bioshock EQII, Guild Wars, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Lord of the Rings Online etc etc.. Some of them are merely advance demos, released way before the public can get hold of them, but many are full-on beta versions of games. All this is combined great stuff like not having to queue for a download or special events like chat room Q+A's with the games developers on the run up to a beta release.

Forum participation plays a BIG part in these Fileplanet betas too. I have seen many games radically changed before release due to feedback from the Fileplanet community so you really feel like you've made a contribution to the games development. It's not just about getting a freebie. ;)

mm, I don't think I want to pay that money just for a small fraction of a chance of getting into the beta :) I'll just enjoy myself with tf2 and flash games until it comes out :D

A FilePlanet subscription is required for the beta. Luckily I have one and I am also in the open beta. Downloaded the client yesterday but you cannot start playing until 2nd of May.

15gb download. 27gb required for installation. Then the inevitable looooong patching process and now this!
