.....not too sure about OOO... do i rly want it Mad? is it adequately swesome?.......tell me the basics of what to mod up... considering I wanna start playing soon! (rolled a dark elf.. closest I could get to someone who can use blade and bow.. wish there was a class where u could.. mod anyone?? )
Khola, do you have the expansion packs too? Shivering Isles, Knight of the Nine and the Download contents addons? If you buy Knights of the Nine on it's own it has all the d/l content on the disk but the GOTY edition of Oblivion (which includes Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine) does not. Having these can affect which mods you can and cannot use. Especially Shivering Isles. Many mods require it to be installed.
As regards OOO I found it really brought the game alive. Like I said previously, in vanilla Oblivion the world around you levels WITH you so every enemy you come across, no matter where, will be beatable. With OOO however the world becomes a more dangerous, more realistic place. With that danger though come greater reward because OOO not only alters AI behaviour, it alters and adds a great deal of other stuff, weapons, treasure etc. too.
And yes, like Slushy said you can create a custom class.
Or as a last resort, you can always try Oldblivion Though you can't play Shivering Isles or the latest patch with it. It CAN make Oblivion run on really old hardware though. I've had it running tolerably on a 5 year old machine with that.
Some other mods I like to use are: Kvatch Rebuilt Ronseal. Deadly Reflex A great combat mod, decapitations, cleaving, shield bashing, horse combat! Darker Dungeons and Nights Adds all the atmosphere Oblivion SHOULD have. Stock up on torches for maximum effect! AF Level Mod Takes the pain out of leveling up your skills for the best stats. Levels your stats as you use skills on the fly! Takes a LOT of pain out of playing! Supreme Magicka This one Makes spells pack more of a punch, and fiddles with magicka rates to make casting more fair. Also adds new spells like levitation and escape from dungeon spells!

Re: The (other) beautiful game. *long post*
I bought the special/collector's edition when it came out, and I think I closed 2 gates then gave up because it suddenly got way too hard.
I tried again and joined the thieve's guild or whatever as an assassin - which was awesome...and did some vampiring, but then I became a vampire and the stupid woman that should have cured me wouldn't (presmuably because one of the crystals I needed was stolen from her). So I stabbed her in the face and gave up.
I tried again with some mod to make the guards not be psychic anymore, but it was a bit tits.
I'd quite like to give it a go, with OOO and all the lovely texture packs etc. Would anyone be willing to help me get it all set up properly, via msn or something please?
Hated the leveling thing because it just made everything a grind . I want some areas to have baby monsters that i can kill with a feather and other areas to have super demons that needs some thought to kill.
Completed the vanilla 100% but got bored after that and refused to pay for minor things like horse armour- are the expansions worth the money?
But it had some of the best gaming moments ever- sneaking aboard a pirate vessel, killing a pirate captain then jumping ship
Some really horrible quests though- like curing vampirism or closing oblivion gates.
Actually i hated those damn gates, takes about about an hour to close one and you seemingly have to close hundreds to progress in the main story
I liked the fact its possible to became grand high master of all the clubs and guilds. I was leader of the vampires hunters and a vampire at the same time
Will look into some of those mods and consider going throught the game again
Ps. Dark elves rule at all Pps. Anyone know how to work the oblivion construction thing, i wanted to make a new race

There are 2 full expansion packs. Knights of the Nine which sees you ending up leader of the Knights themselves
and The Shivering Isles which adds a whole new landmass with loads more quests. the other download content addons (available on the Knights of the Nine disk) add simple things like the horse armor you mentioned as well as more complex things like player housing. The Vile Lair for evil characters for example or the Pirates Cove one. Once these new "homes" are fully owned they will earn you loot and money too! As for the gates you only actually have to do a few in order to complete the main questline
Hated those darn gates. I closed all near the cities to get all of the reinforcements. Luckily I discorvered the invisiblity spells. After that I only needed to run to the top of the towers without killing anyone. I closed the last 3 gates that way.
