Hey guys, Just wanted to ask if you know any cool freeware/open source games that are playable in LAN, coz Im going to a friend's place today with my gear and he rather spends money on alcohol than on games, so I need to find a few games to spend the night with... We play everything, from RTS to FPS. Thx in advance! |

Hmm, there's OpenArena, which is based on the Quake 3 engine. It's not properly finished yet though. Nexuiz is a pretty funky free shooter too. It feels a lot like UT. Here's a funky remake of UFO: Enemy Unknown (XCOM). It takes a while to get used to it though, but it is multiplayer compatible. Glest is a free RTS. Feels a bit like Warcraft 3. That's about all I can think of for now! |

I saw one in PCG a month or 2 back and it looked prett ok,,,, ill try hunt it down quick ***edit*** damn how could i forget about this!! did u ever play the awesome 'the ring meets counterstrike' game F.E.A.R? Well it was great and for some time now theyve developed and given away a full multiplayer version of the game for FREE! I keep meaning to install this myself as i lost my origional FEAR disc and i loved the game. In fact ill go DL it now. http://www.joinfear.com/ im still looking for this other FPS too though, bugging me now!! |

Planetside totally free now. Was meant to be a subsription £9 a month FPS shooter but noone paid as noones machines could run it. Ah so it is free now. I thought it was free first I heard about it, then I found out it wasn't. Now it is. edit: Actually, looks like you still have to pay for it. There was a free period (with restrictions) but that was last year if wikipedia is anything to go by.. Heres something you could play. Click But I suggest you download this rather than the normal release client, because the way that was built comes into conflict with a recent IE security update. |
