Been getting into quite a few olde adventures of late- I remember gabriel knight (loads of discs!) and was recently enjoying The Longest journey until i got stuck, the follow up Dreamfall was half decent too even tho it got the 3d treatment and was a little too easy and 'nice'. Also playing the SEGAcd version of Dragon's Lair! No real gameplay ofc- but what memories again!

All pirate lovers should try this YAARRR! It's a forthcoming Pirate MMO. Get the beta if you can. I have played the beta via my Fileplanet Founders Club membership clicky. It's well worth a look.

I was in the closed beta for Pirates o' the Burning Sea and was rather disappointed that it didn't break further from the MMO mould; not that it isn't quite fun. Maybe I've been spoiled by Firaxis and their Pirates! games.

The link is for the (supposedly) much improved new 2nd open beta release. Feedback from the previous betas led to this latest, 3 week old release, so it may be a completely different experience now. I think the first closed beta was around 18 months ago wasn't it?

monkey island rocks i think its 2 for me but havent played one or two in a decade now i think. S&M is awesome and recentely was playing grim also great. I think we forgetting another classic tho Day of the tentacle???? also i remember a game called toonstruck i remember liking it but dont really remember too much of the game if anyone has it or can tell me where to get it that would be awesome. i miss good old fashon adventure games like anything that ended in quest (police and space mainly)

I think you're right, there. I haven't played any of the more recent builds, so I suppose I should check out what progress has been made.
Back to adventure games, though, did anyone play The Dig?

Aye! in fact it's on my PC right now. Spielberg did a pretty good job with the story but it's very similar to Greg Bears Eon book. I wonder which came first.

I played The Dig up do the part where the one lollypop in the beginning collapses in the woods into the candy cottage "caves"(?) and there were tons of smileys to go to. For some reason I stopped there.

Speaking of adventure games, http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ is a site where people have made their own adventure games and some of them are really great while some are .. not so great. It's basically a deviantART for home-made click-n-point adventures games. xD
