I was just wondering if anyone still played this.

I gave it a go when it first came out, and dont get me wrong, it's a well made mod, but it wasnt deserving of the hype it was getting. But then nothing really is.

I gave up with it after the first patch (1.1 I think). I personally got bored of it. All you needed to do was cover a chokepoint with the mg and you were made. And the capture areas were obscure as hell. It was usually some random shop with terminator posters on the wall.

It needed changes that they didnt seem willing to put in because it would cut down the "realism". Tbh its only a game so being fun to play would have been my priority. That and a lot of the people who played it I encountered were complete knobs. :|

I really like it, you get such a satisfaction after you get a kill. Can't wait till beta 2, there adding a lot more 'fun' element as you put it. An overhead map and better sights and animations. Gonna be great!

When is beta 2 coming out ?

I use to be a Beta Tester back in the day and it certainly came a long long way from then to now, i like it alot but TF2 is my game now.

Downloaded this once, a fps w/o xhair sounded promising but I didnt manage to get out of the building I spawned in, lol.

Maybe gonna give it a 2nd chance some time.

I gave it another go.

You can tell a game has a problem when you can't tell who you teammates are from 5 feet away. I ended up shooting my own teammates because I couldnt tell who was an marine and who was an insurgent.

Real marines co-ordinate their postions and stick with their squads, on a game people run around doing their own thing.

Basically it's no mod for pubbing.

I hated this game so much... Firstly I hate these kind of games that try to be realistic, which throws everything at you and expects you to know everything at once. Of course everyone learns fairly quick about the basic controls and idea of the game, but no-one ever tells you about your chances of survival. Yes it seems that if ANYONE shoots you from ANY distance with ANY gun at ANY time or ANY place, you will probably die. Regardless of whether its a mountain of bullets or a shot to the foot, your character will react by either dieing or letting out the most girlish scream and take nearly all of your health.
You have to learn about covering systems, now me I hate the use of cover because I'm an impatient bugger. Only when I am equip with a long range weapon do I think cover is useful because I use it as camouflage. But when on the front line I like to shoot all the motherf****** I can, but you can't do it in this. There is no Heavy class equipped with a big chain gun, but there is a Machine Gun which you have to be on the ground to use, because trying to shoot anything that is 5ft in front of you while running will not be hit.
So the game is based around camping and being deadly accurate with your grenades which you need to be good with, otherwise someone will just run around the corner, jump on the ground and own your ass.

And for god sake, I can't keep deadly serious about this game either:
Every time a Iraqi (sorry I think their Iraqi's) throws a grenade, he shouts "ALLAH A MACK BUD!" Gets me everytime and throws my concentration.
