I've had a logitech MX1000 (wireless) for the past 2 years and never looked back as the freedom from wires with unperceivable lag is great. However this mouse only has a DPI of 800 which is starting to show its age a bit with some of these newer 4000DPI mice out there. The trouble is they are all wired, and Ive refused to go back to wire so was just stuck waiting for some innovative company to make a 'decent' wireless gaming mouse (not the logitech G7). Now they have, I dont care about the price. Ill be snapping one of those up sooner than you can say ebay!

Re: My next mouse...the Razer Mamba, they finally made it!
5600 dpi!!! wtf I thought my g9 was silly at 3200 lol, I'm still using only 1800.
Yeah the reduction in response time so it is competitive is nice, but still cordless? eww, I would have to have two still just in case the power ran out on one. Would never ever consider buying a cordless mouse and razor products are sadly over-rated and over-priced imho.
Re: My next mouse...the Razer Mamba, they finally made it!
The dpi sounds attractive on paper, but I don't think it would benefit my low-sensitivity preferences. The mouse I have is 1800 dpi, with an in-game sensitivity of 1.0. The Mamba would probably be much to fast for my liking, unless there was a way to keep the same speed in-game, with the benefits of increased precision. I'm probably fine with the one I've got.

100 quid odd??? jebus...
whats the weight like on these wireless mouse. i have a generic one i use with my laptop and it's pretty heavy. dont use it for gaming or anythign but imagine they all have to weigh quite a bit cause of batt? do you find that good or bad?
Re: My next mouse...the Razer Mamba, they finally made it!
The mouse i use is 3200dpi a saitek gm-3200. The only time ive ever been able to use it at 3200dpi is in left for dead with the mouse sensitivity at 0. I cant see that anymore dpi would help as the slightest movement would have you pirouetting around like a figure skater on an entire years worth of columbias finest. Though some people do play with insane mouse sensitivity, i specced fluffy once and he was twicthing around like a rabbits nose connected to a car battery.

I really dont understand people's aversion to wireless mice...bad experiences with shoddy models in the past maybe. Wireless mice from logitech have be without lag for a few years now and a full recharge will last a over a week, it also only requires 10 mins charge for another 4-5 hours of play. Even the most wingey performance obcessed gamer couldn't argue that the mamba is inferior....if the battery runs out you can just plug it its detachable cord and it instantly becomes a wired mouse.
Re: My next mouse...the Razer Mamba, they finally made it!
Will wait for you to test drive one, got an MX1000 myself as well and the wireless doesn't bother me, can not see myself going back to wired, would love to know how this one compares when gaming.
Re: My next mouse...the Razer Mamba, they finally made it!
After looking around, I got an MX518 a few days ago. It cost me 32€ (29£), and I think my ability to follow targets circling around me, and my aiming, have improved a bit. I will have to get used to a cable again, after so much time with my previous crappy wireless mouse. Maybe high sensitivity players could find its maximum resolution, 1800 dpi, not enough.
That Mamba mouse sure looks great. The possibility to just plug it, in case batteries run out, rules out the only objection I could have found.
Funny thing is after some testing I ended up using the same settings Dr Gash does: 1800 dpi, and 1.0 sensitivity. (mouse acceleration disabled).
