Anyone who reads gaming websites must've seen coverage of this mod? As a STALKER fanboy and immersion freak I NEED this thing. Anyone got a spare copy of Arma II:CO they don't need hmm?
Paco Rodrigez: yeh, most peple just roll over and receve cocking |H|H| Bolt: I did like that a lot at the time Paco Rodrigez: same, im licky tho, all i do is give my mum the scent and she's on it like a bloodhound |H|H| Bolt: I was talking about recieving cocking
I have dabbled with this mod for the past week or so, and while i do enjoy parts of it (there really is nothing else like it really) it's not as fun as it could be.
The gameplay is OK but it's not about the zombies at all, it really is something you have to play with close mates. Every server will have groups of clan members and friends that work together. Everyone else will be get shot on sight all the time, and i do mean all the time. There is no such thing as a friendly human player and because of that there is hardly any interaction other than killing one another.
The major citys chernarus and electro are PVP central, but is the best place for loot. Everywhere else is walking around looking for stuff territory, avoiding zombies and then getting sniped by someone.
The biggest threat is the humans, the zombies area really easy to avoid, unless you shoot your makarov pistol in cherno then you'll be swarmed in seconds.
That being said it's really something you gotta try for yourself. I will add this though. Don't just get Arma 2 for this mod, the standard co-op multiplayer is an absolulte blast and should not be thrown aside completely, although one of my favorite experiences is this map right here rather than the actual game itself, i'd love to play this with some hher's.
Give it some time. The word of mouth and the fact an alpha mod alone is keeping ARMA II at the top of the steam sales charts for weeks, coupled with a quick and smart dev (he actually works for Bohemia Interactive) means things may change.

Re: It cannot be ignored any longer: DayZ
I am intrigued. I like the idea of an immersive multiplayer FPS like this, and the video seemed pretty much as I expected the game would be.
Iv'e began scouring the nothern reigon of chernarus having escaped chernogorsk on foot on day one after being chased by a load of walkers. I walked for a couple of days looting houses and camps along the way finding myself an ak, a colt and food for some time. I reached the outskirts of the airfield near Greshino about 2 days ago. I moved timidly through the forest keeping the airfeild on my left shoulder in the horizon dodging the dead on the way. I heard alot of gunfire at the airfield during this time so have opted to give it a wide birth and make my heading north east towards Pobeda Dam, thus far i have been able to move reletivly freely say for one hairy encounter at Devil Castle when i strayed to close to the ruin and got shot at by a sniper, i escaped unscathed and havent seen single soul since.
I am currently camped out in a forest just north west of Gvozdno, it's not too safe where i am as the hills are teeming with zeds.
All in all iv'e had to fire off maybe 40 rounds and most of that was at cherno when i spawned. It is addictive and am enjoying it, but i'd enjoy it more if other people worked together. Like i said before, saying hello to anyone in this game gets you killed, so save yourself the bother and keep away from others.
(that vid really is a false representaion of the game, it does happen sure, but you won't be privvy to experience it)
