Hello Ive decided to review games for everyones enjoyment. Ok seeing as how you can get proper review from proper game journalist and what not ive decided to review games in a bit of a different way. ok rule 1 its a random rant in one go with little to no forethought. rule two its at least half a bottle in me previous to the rant. (takes a sip) (drinking wine btw) Todays review is of Mario Kart for the wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Today in town after some great popcorn chicken me and a roommate went to hmv and to our surprise mario kart was on sale. Completely forgot that this game was annonced. ne who we got it. The game as far as i know comes in a box with one of nintendos plastic periferals/ adaptation to the wiiiiiii mote wheel and cost soomething along the lines of 39.99£. Ok onto the proper review. This game is great. yup simple as that. If you are a fan of the mario kart series then this is a worthy contiuation. Ok critizising nintendo for putting out the same games over and over again and for wiiiiii games being gimicky is like critisizing the sky for its blueness. When playing the games (using the wheel) it brings together two good childhood memories. think about the first time you went to the arcade and decided to waste some money on one of those car driver games, and now remeber all the good times you had with the mario kart series (im thinking of the 64 and the cube versions, by far the best so far) and whammo you got the wiii verison. If youve played the ds verison and wished it had that little bit more then thats pretty much it. You get 4 cups with new maps which are for the most part either a fun drive or a pain in the ass navagation excersise through hell. Yup some maps flat out suck to drive. not because they are pooly designed but because they are just hard and annoying thus adding some frustrating good fun where you yell at the screen cursing the name of whoever designed this piss of shit while deep down you kinda realise its a bit your fault for driving in the snow. Like in the ds version they bring back tracks from the older games. This is both a curse and a blessing you get to have fun in old extra pretty tracks like waluigis for the cube yet you got annoying things like playing old shitting snes tracks that are a royla pain in the ass. there is a good amout of playable characters and way too many vehicle choices from the fmailiar kart to the new motorcycle. Right time for some more gimmicks. The bikes are a throw back to excite bike and you get to do fun things like pop wheelies and when you jump of a ramp (which are more than generously scattered in the new maps) you can do tricks such as cork screws and flips. what the point in a racing game? well you get a boost as you land. right new weapons i hear some of you ask. Yes there are a good amount at that from a pow block to a bizzare hot potato type lighting bolt. Now to this lets add the ability to play online.......right this brings the game to a new level. Apart form all the fun which you can have with up to 12 REAL ppl you get the added bonus of the following. All you get to know about your opponents is what me they are ususing and thier name and where they are from. This leads to the following situation. Me: "fuck you you frenchie" Friend: dont worry i got a blue shell" blue shell hits french player me: ha eat shit you frenchie" ok this didnt exactly happen but i fear that the real conversation will lead to an angry mob of ppl at my door. But i think you get what i mean. You only have so much ammo to work with when you wanna curse out someone you dont know......well with out going to generalizations. (side note: no angry mobs at my door plz) The point its you really get into this when you know another person intended you to have a nice fall into the abiss from a red shell. (well so much for that bottle of wine) Ok wolfdevil stop blowing smoke up nintendos ass. Bad aspects. You get to choose between automatic and manual...wait im not done yet. This means that you get to choose if the wiiiii decides if you drift or not. What this means: well alot it seems. Automatic = everything is a o k . manual means you get to choose when you drift by pressing b to jump and start the drifts like in all the other games. Well this leads to a simple fact when you are in automatic you turn great at all turns which leads to constatnt solid good game play. Manual means you get to jump (which is a must if you ask me) but means your normal turning is reduced to a wet sponge on a wet day. so you can play normally or play in a way that simple sucks the life out of everything and makes you wish your parents had considered an abortion just to spare you this pain. Nintendo why is there no jump button? well Im sick of typing for now so I leave with the following. This games is a solid good game full of good game play and nice graphics. and for those who are real fans of the mario karts get it dont believe me well let me leave you with the following image you know rainbow road? ok now imagine HAL had taken a bunch of lsd laced pixie sticks. thats the new rainbow road. Seriously if you bothered to play most mario karts and got a wiiii spend the cash to get this game and invite some friends over get some drinks and drive and shoot each other that alone is worth the night. Want some kind of rating system? well seeing as how this is my 1st review and tbh cant get into alot of specifics well 8/10 not the best game ever but damm good fun and good fun If your a mario kart fan save up, if you regret it well ill pay the diffrence.....no no i wont but you get to write an angry letter to me. ok i sick of typeing ill probably add an edit to this tomorrow when i realise what ive done. take care guys. (cant be bothered to spell check so deal with it and dont wanna hear some lame you cant spell to save your life schpeeel.) |
