Hey All

I have a bit of time over and I figure I'll make a more formal application than most of the players. I'm not a regular by any means, I'm a totally fresh face interested to team up thru the early days of the very hyped game Brink. Which I happen to fancy. Also, this application will double as an introduction thread. Scroll down for TL;DR version.

Previous FPS experience

Since I'm probably a bit older than the average around here I have for a fact been around longer than most of you. No shit. I was around when 33.6 dial up modems were the only means of getting the daily fix of needed frags in Quake. Played in a clan on clanbase competitively. Next up was Half-Life and it's ginourmous patch which brought me the first Team Fortress. With that even more competitive team based FPS. I started playing support roles back then and started to enjoy it very much. This was how my passion was born. With killer US Robotics 56.6 v90 modems out and later ISDN connections with flat rates, the win button was found for my FPS gaming.

Fast forward a bit we find myself with a sweaty forehead duelling in Quake 3 Arena. That calmed down after attendance to some major LANs which gave success. I started to know talented players and we formed a CTF team which later came to be very successful on clanbase. Great times, lasted years.

Later I played the best game to date, PlanetSide with a wonderful bunch of guys from the UK. NC of course (A faction in the game PlanetSide). We practiced a couple of days every week and was a very respected but small strike team within the game. I stayed here for a good couple of years until Sony, aka Bullshittinatordozer, rolled in and shat in the game's face. Very efficiently killed the game. Quickly too!

Battlefield, Enemy Territory, so on and so forth. It was all kind of "meh" to me but I played it, everything felt so instanced and pointless after PlanetSide. Went back to dueling for a bit.

Fast forwarding to newer times I've played a bunch of Global Agenda. Not the best game but a truly interesting one tactically. I lead some squads and was one of the most successful Agencies in EU during the first couple of months. Had much fun.

That sums up some of the experience I've had. In my time I've been everything from "Just following orders" to the creator and leader of successful competitive teams. Now that I've grown "old", I'm more relaxed and not that power seeking apprentice a man with my past is judged to have.


What I'm looking for with H|H

I'm actually looking for more than a temporary flirt. Cause right now, I think Brink will be quite temporary. I don't think it will last 6 months. If it does, great, if not...cake anyone? Aka, would not cake...care. Hm.

I'm looking for a active bunch of guys willing to play team based games together. I hope Battlefield 3 will be truly awesome and by that game comes out, I might have found a nice home here? Who knows?

To be specific I'm looking for cheerful, mature and respectful set of players to share the new Brink experience with. If you want to go competitive and compete in online cups and such, I will back you 100% and help out building a strong team. I'm also hoping for a cheerful set of guys who likes to use VOIP a lot, and not afraid to take Brink seriously if played competitively.

There are quite a few members that have bought the game.

We are hoping that they release a Linux dedicated server pretty soon after release so that we can run it on our dedicated box.

It is too soon to predict how/if the game is picked up in competitive play. You usually get a good indication a month or so after release.

Thanks for the reply. So from what I understand there is nothing really planned for H|H and Brink, just a bunch of members that will try out Brink and see if it catches on?

There is a lot of interest for it especially from people who have played a lot of comp TF2, but we can't know what the game plays like yet so we can't really say. From what I've seen so far though, I would definitely guess we would have at least one team playing comp.

Hey Beard, nice to see you here! Yeah, I'd echo that the general consensus is that the HH as a community/organisation will wait until we can play the game to start anything but there are plenty of individuals interested, many of which have pre-ordered of course.

For the rest of the guys, those post(s) were from the Brink TV forum, which is the equivalent of TF2TV or eXtv for Brink. No harm in shameless self (well, not yet) promotion, eh?

But I'm not a regular, never been around you guys before, could I be accepted on a trial period then maybe and later apply?
