Ok, I'm thinking of getting a 7600GS 256mb AGP card today to tide me over till I can get a new machine. I have 2 hard drives, and 1.5 gb of ram. And a 2.8 pentium 4. Not sure what the mobo is. And most importantly, I have a 400 watt psu.
What I want to know is, will it use too much power? Last time I fitted a new (well, second hand) gfx card, it used too much power, and ended up helping the old aging mobo and processor fry themselves. Suffice to say, I'm a bit wary.
not sure...if you've got the money it might be worth just investing in a 600W power supply anyway, you can pick up a semi-decent one for around 50 quid...you might be able to manage with just the 400W one though...
Installed it, and it runs great. All my source games on high, Company of Heros working great, nice fps. And Crysis is good, even if just about everything is on low. But christ, even then it still looks good. I'm not kidding. All in all, I'm pleased with it.
