Whoohoo. New pc on the way.....
I just ordered the parts for my new PC. Its going to be my 1st self build so I'm preemptively making a post as I'm sure to have problems :s (also I just want to show off )
Cooler Master Stacker 830 Special Edition PC Tower Case
Real Power 850 W Modular Power Unit
ASUS Striker II Extreme - LGA775 Socket for Intel - nForce 380i SLI
Creative 7.1 PCI Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series
ZOTAC GeForce 8800GTS 512 MB
WESTERN DIGITAL Caviar SE16 - 500 GB - 7200RPM - 16 MB
Vista Ultimate 64 bit
got the floppy and dvd writer ordered too but still need to sort out the cooling. Gonna stick with air coz this rig is very overclockable without liquid cooling apparently. Been advised to get an OCZ Vendetta CPU fan. Not sure what else I'll need tbh......
Feel free to make suggestions/offer advice/drool in envy*

Nice! I have the Stacker 830 Evolution and it's a very versatile case. I probably would've gone with 4GB of DDR2 memory though to save a bit of cash. Saying that, I haven't checked memory prices in a while so I'm not sure how much DDR3 is now anyway.
Also, how does the 8800GT stack up against the 8800GTS?
If you get an after market HSF (I use a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, by the way, which I can recommend but it's a little pricey) you'll need some sort of thermal compound. Being your first build, just getting the usual Arctic Silver 5 would probably be your best bet.
You might want to get an extra case fan or 2 as well. I currently have 7 in my Stacker (although 2 are 80mm), and I have room for at least another 4 more!
I'm curious though, why the expensive sound card? I have that same card actually and I got it for the front I/O bay, but I have to say that now it gets very little use and I probably would've been better to save the cash and get a cheaper one.

The GTS outperforms the GT, not by a huge amount but it does have the edge on it.

Yeah think so, it does have 3 fans fitted but can take a max of 9. I'll need to check out temps once it's finally built I reckon.

Funny you should ask that. I do listen to a lot of music on my PC. I have a pair of Logitech 2.1 Z-2300 speakers (200W, 8" subwoofer) so thought it was worth getting a decent card to power them. Although after doing a bit of reading it seems like the sound card that comes with the striker II is pretty good so I've cancelled the soundblaster until I've checked the other one out.
