Nice build you've got their but ddr3 memory isn't really perfected and your paying top price for stuff that in comparison with the higher range of ddr2 is actually worse, obviously if you want it to be future proof then go ahead but its worth thinking about. Vista has always worked for me even the 64bit which i got for my new pc its worked on 3 out of 4 pcs the 4th being my dads, i blame him for it not working (perfectly) he's one of those people that sods law dictates if he opens paint for too long or uses his front usb ports his motherboard will fry. (not joking about that 3 mobos)
The only reason in my mind that vista is so ooh i dont trust that new thing is because there isnt another OS to compete with really and the gap between xp and vista was quite a big one. If MS had stuck to their 2-3 year OS releases then i doubt this problem would exsist.
Hey DJ, how are you getting this stuff off. What is their delivery prices like. For future reference you know

Re: Whoohoo. New pc on the way.....
I went for pixmania in the end. Have dealt with them before and found them very reliable. Just over €16 for delivery.
Komplett is worth a look too and maybe dabs. Although I found dabs a bit hit n miss when it comes to availability. ie, they show something as in stock but as soon as you order its due in "in 8-10 days" (sometimes for a couple of weeks).
How did u get on upgrading your graphics card? Who did u get it off in the end?

Actually it's not that bad for most, but I've had problems. Some of the ultimate editions come with 32bit vista too (makes u wonder) so you may be ok there. It's only really on some games that I have a problem, but they are usually high spec ones like Crysis, which everyone is saying runs better in 32 anyway. Drivers have got better for 64 i must admit.
As for the build, looking good. Even got the mobo up from mine in there you git!!
The 8800GTS will outperform a stock GT in most cases. The GTS having more stream processors and higher bandwidth while the GT has a higher clockspeed and memory clock. If you havent already bought cards look out for the GTS2 which is slightly overclocked. Hell I might even be selling one GTX soon, lol.
I actually haven't done it yet. I had exams coming up so i thought i'd better leave it till they were finished, which is 2moro. HOORAY.
Komplett is pretty good. Good selection and prices. Got a 4gb USB stick for about 20 quid of them. They had an 8gb one for not much more as well. And delivery is only about 12.
I'll probably still go with the 8800gt 512mb though.

Re: Whoohoo. New pc on the way.....
Just thought I'd let you know that I got my new rig built while I was away.
Had my 1st play of TF2 on it last night and I've gone from getting ~20 FPS on low settings to 70-100 FPS on high
The build itself was a piece of piss, dunno why its taken me so long to do it.
No more off the shelf buys for me. Its self-build all the way
Hmmm 70-100 that seems low for you rig, i jsut had a e8400 put in with a 2600 pro graphics and slow ddr2 ram and on all fulls minus aa and af i never get below 100 fps from 20 fps on lows

Antialiasing is a FPS killer though. Turn that and anisotropic filtering on to max and watch your frame rates drop.
Seriously, you have the 2 biggest performance eaters turned off...
Aye as i dont actually see the difference in them, seen em on my mates and the only thing is different is that goldrush is incredibly orange which i dont really wants

Re: Whoohoo. New pc on the way.....
Didnt even realise I should be getting better FPS.
Full settings:
colour correction on v sync off Motion blur off HDR off AA off filtering bilinear (trilinear is recommended for my system) FOV 90 Res 1680X1050 (native res for my 24" monitor)
Everything else on high
Reckon I need to change anything here?
I think my monitor's refresh rate is 60 Hz. Will I see any benefit if my FPS goes over 60?
