Looking for a new smartphone for my dad.

I've recommended the Moto G before - is it still the best choice? Heard awful things about Lollipop which ruined my friend's Nexus 5.

Where's the best place to buy? He's on Giffgaff and is boycotting Amazon.

The Nexus 5 will be updated from Lollipop 5.0.1 (the horrid update) to 5.1 in the coming weeks.
Which should fix almost all of any Nexus 5 users troubles!
just thought I'd put that in here (no. Nexus 5 did not get the 5.0.2 as a minor fix to these issues)

If you want to play it safe, then get a Moto G 4G. Otherwise it's Lafayette Urano all the way.

He was worried about the spooks... not sure it would hold up against surveillance.

I would recommend a Oneplus One if you are willing to increase your budget a bit, I've had mine for a week now (latest CM12 nightly and AK kernel) and have had no issues whatsoever, and the battery lasts for about 9 hours with 5-6 hours screen on time, or 12 hours with about 1 hours of screen on time (wifi and mobile data turned on)

Heard awful things about Oneplus support, and their dangerous marketing campaigns made me wonder about their competence as a company. Thanks though

You can't go wrong with a 2014 Moto G 4G, or the 2015 Moto E 4G, or a Doogee F1 Turbo Mini 4G (review: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/mobi ... e-of-2015/)
