As some of you may of noticed, when trying to play on the servers as of late i had some insanely stupid high pings... spiking from 20 to 600~800. Along with this my internet downloads are lucky to hit 20kb/s if im lucky.
So i ring up BT(my isp - don't laugh i get a good deal) tell them my porblem... After spending 2hrs on the phone to no doubt some spotty 18yr old reading of a screen telling me oh there notin wrong reporting on our side. (Ofcourse not heaven forbid you admit to a bleeping problem!)
Anyway, about a hour or so after getting of the phone, i receive a email with 'tips' on how to fix my problem... Wait for it... these 'tips' and video, are all done with....win98!... Im sorry did i miss the whole last 10yrs of software?... Im running two copys of xp and a copy of vista. Lucky for me, i know what im doing, and ofcourse already done all there 'tips' before even calling em. But i feel for the poor avg joe that aint got a clue what he/she is doing and are being directed to a 10yr out of date guide.
ARG! Why can't fecking BT just admit there screwing my internet and FIX IT! its almost impossible to play atm and totaly impossible to download anything/watch a video on youtube
Anyone recommend a good ISP? Cause if they don't fix this soon i shall be going else were,, geat deal or not.

Few little things to start off with, have a look on samknows and find out what, if any, LLU suppliers are on your exchange.
1. Test your master socket on your phone line, go to the main phone in the house, should be in two parts, under the screws and try the socket under there, it will disable any extensions though.
2. Find out your line attenuation, with that you can find out the max download speed that your line will take
3. If you have sky or o2, consider them as they are cheap and fast. - sky is for me anyway
I had NTL years ago and had noting but problems with em
I got BT calling me tonight to 'trouble shoot' my problem, should be fun me being a former network engineer so i got a clue what im talking about. After doing some research into this matter seems to be a common problem BT seem to like ti randomly put caps on your internet speed... hmmm i sense a war starting with BT tonight and i shall make sure i bloodly well win!
If all fails seems i can get free broadband from sky, gota love having 3 boxs with all the channels
