TF2 wont work anymore. It gets to the loafing screen then it shuts down and so does steam. Help me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it helps i have windows XP and TF2 used to work even after all the updates and i did not change the graphics settings.

I guess the 1st thing to try is defragging the game files.
Right click TF2 in steam>properties>local files>verify integrity of game cache.

First, open the steam "games"-list, right-click on TF2->Properties->Set launch options... and type the parameter "-novid" without the quotes in there. If it doesnt fix the problem it still reduces the time you spend waiting to see if you're gonna crash.
Second, defrag your Steam GCFs on a regular basis. (Make sure you exit steam first and dont exit the defrag-progress until its done or you might get corrupted files -> reinstall)
Both those help with lotsa weird problems and should be done anyway. Give it a try.
For that specific error, what did it say in the box? Little more information prease.
Quite odd that steam itself crashes as well..

This same problem started happening to me yesterday! I'm running 64-bit Vista though, and the game just hangs on the loading screen. If i just leave it both the game and Steam itself just shuts down like in your case.
I tried deleted TF2 and redownloading it, but to no avail. I also verified the game cache, or whatever that particular function is called, but that didn't work either. Oh and I tried all of Fluffy's suggestions and none of them worked!
